Hospital Audit Shows Drive Totals Reach Over Goal

Main Street Road Repair Nears Completion
The city council at the June meeting approved crushed gravel mix for Main Street repair after state sales were halted. The project should finish within the week while new street lights are installed by Montana Power Company. Mayor Hentges gets a one week leave for Calgary Lions convention. A dump site is leased beyond city limits and July 4 closure hours extend to 2 am for bars. A 90 ft section of Second Street Northeast will be abandoned and returned to the owner.

Vocational Agriculture Instructor Is Hired
Fred Swingle, spring graduate of Montana State college, has accepted a contract to teach vocational agriculture at Chateau for the coming school year, announces Supt. Robert Graham. The Choteau Women’s club earned first prize in state arts and crafts at the Federated Women’s Clubs convention in Billings on June 2 to 4. An art window display in the J C Penney window last year helped secure the award and the group received an E Lochrie oil painting now shown at J C Penney Co store. President Mrs Marion Averill reported strong attendance and an engaging program at the meeting.

Heavy Spring Rain Floods Hit Teton County Bridges
A heavy concentrated spring rainfall in Teton county caused minor floods early this week. Rivers reached swollen levels and multiple bridges were washed out as 4.14 inches of moisture were recorded at Choteau over the past two weeks.

George Rice Special Rites Slated Monday
Funeral services for Sgt. George E. Rice of Pendroy will be held Monday at the Chateau Methodist church with special military rites. Rice, killed in action in northwest Africa on Dec. 6, 1946, will be buried in Chateau cemetery after remains arrive from overseas.
