Phil Bottler of the Giant Springs hatchery met Chateau officials to discuss a proposed rearing pond on Spring Creek near Claude. The Teton County Sportsmen's Association, with the State Fish and Game Commission, aims to spend about 75 dollars if fish are supplied. The plan calls for a six foot depth, shade raft, and a spring-fed pond that won’t disrupt water flow. M. J. Lyon supports the project, seeking land title flexibility, with work slated to start this year and fish stocking next year.

Emil Johnson Rescues Antelope From Coyotes
Emil Johnson, driving to town Tuesday morning, witnessed three large coyotes encircling six antelope near the Pete Sandmo place between Priest and Rattlesnake buttes. He fetched Sheriff J. L. Billings, returned to the scene, fired, and the coyotes fled into the brush though none were killed. The antelope, nearly exhausted, rested after the rescue. Crossen Jr. notes about 100 antelope graze on the Crossen ranch and calls for greater protection against coyotes.

June rainfall to date exceeds historical averages in county
Through Monday the local station logged 1.11 inches for June with Thursday to Monday showers spreading across Pendroy and western county. Heaviest rain fell in the west while eastern spots like Collins and Dutton saw only light precipitation. Farmers in Choteau reported little, Pendroy about half times Choteau, and overall range and farm lands benefited though east areas remain strained.

Tables Benches and Shelter Plan for Pishkun Reservoir Grounds
The Pishkun reservoir will get tables benches and a 20 foot square shelter with a stone fireplace after a CCC labor project. A fenced 200 foot square area near the lake will include toilets swings and teeter totters to attract both fishermen and their families. The plan also covers Willow Creek and other areas with bird refuges noting rare birds and pintail grouse habitats in the region.

Old-time pictures show Choteau life and pioneers
C H Connor, resident of Choteau for 45 years, shared old photographs revealing the town’s history. Images include the front of the old Choteau house now the hotel porch with Hodgskiss family, wagon shops from the 1890s, Methodist ministers led by Bishop Fowler, and scenes of early hunting and betting days. Baillies Visit Helena for Family Plan to Missoula Trip
Mr and Mrs R F Baillie traveled to Helena Saturday to meet their son Paul who arrived by plane from Spokane. Paul works at a Spokane bank and is taking a week off. The Baillies will take him to Missoula later this week then he will fly back to Spokane. They will also escort their other son Billie to Missoula for a six week music course at the State University.
