River Watch Tightened as Rain Falls in Chateau Area
Sheriff Al Becker reports river levels fell about a foot at 1 p.m. after Tuesday’s local storm. With 1.16 inches of rain at Chateau weather station, authorities may raise a 24 hour river watch if levels rise. Bridges north of Choteau and Belleview bridge approaches were washed out and repairs underway. Total yearly precipitation stands at 7.88 inches, up from 3.78 inches last year.

High School Rodeo Slated June 17 18

Choteau Girls Bring Home Medals From Kalispell Meet
Seven Choteau girls returned Sunday from the Montana Girls Junior Olympics in Kalispell with six medals. Debbie Reiding led the junior high team to its first divisional title with a 2nd in the junior long jump and 6th in the 50 yard dash. Susan Rathman was 5th in the intermediate standing broad jump. Marcia Curtis 6th in the 100 yard dash and 3rd in her 220 heat. Kris Wilkerson 6th in high jump. Janet Peck reached the semifinals in the junior 75 yard dash and aided the 440 relay before a baton drop. Carol Peterson and Carol Scott did not finals. Mrs Grant Curtis coached. This ended the 1967 AAU track season for the local committee which funds a volleyball team, a boys team to Anaconda, and supports the Kalispell girls meet with sponsors including the American Legion and Chamber of Commerce.
