The first session of the egg grading school was held last night at the courthouse with J. E. Hodgskiss presiding. Miss H. E. Cushman and Fred Rosendall led talks on production, care, packing, and the state egg grading law. The program includes a move to Havre for the next session and a possible re-opening of the grading plant plus a marketing association.

Plans for Farmers Union Picnic in Chateau June 21
Walter Dauwalder of Bole, secretary of the county Farmers union, outlined preparations for the annual picnic to be held here Wednesday June 21. He noted leaders Charles D. Egley and A W Ricker from the Staul headquarters will be in Montana and likely deliver addresses. Egley works with the livestock department and Ricker with the Farmers Union Herald.

Fairfield Boy Competes in State Flag Contest
Joel Olson of Fairfield participated in the state flag contest held last Friday in Helena. Thirteen contestants entered statewide, with a Jordan winner noted. Rachel Gitchel of Pendroy could not attend the girls division. The event began with flag and constitution essays in the house chamber and ended with a senate declamation at 9:45. Governor Cooney welcomed competitors as Ellen Sollevan presided in Elizabeth Ireland's absence. Mrs Marian Morrow and Mrs A D Colvin contributed remarks and a vocal selection.

Recreation school opens Monday in Falls

Poppy Sale Yields Nearly Half-Against Last Year
The American Legion auxiliary sale raised about 49 dollars from 200 bright red artificial poppies sold last Saturday. Purchasers could give as they wished, with all proceeds supporting veteran relief work. Half stays local, half goes to the state department, as Mrs. B. Memorial Day Observance Unites Three American Legion Posts
Memorial Day services in Chateau and surrounding towns unite three American Legion posts in tributes to fallen heroes anddisabled veterans. A parade led by Colors formed at the courthouse, with the Chateau band and Boy Scouts joining the procession to the cemetery for Randall Carpenter’s address and the post’s salute to the dead.
