The storm began near Badger Creel, moved north of Pendray and Agawam, and affected Premium Center and the Teton ridge area with a one mile wide strip nearly lost. About 10 000 acres of wheat and feed crops were harmed. losses estimated around 100 000 dollars. Rain accompanying the hail eased drought and damaged spring seeded crops.

The Ladies' Industrial will meet Wednesday August 5 at 2 30 p m at the church. A tea towel and soap shower for the church kitchen will be held. The executive board meets at 1 45 p m on the same day.
The Marias Fair and Rodeo board at Shelby asks Teton county stockgrowers to assemble a beef cattle exhibit for the fair August 14 to 16. They note most breeding stock comes from this county and Cha teau area entries would heighten competition. S. N. Halvorson, local county agent, will assist with agricultural judging.
Mrs. Bert I. Packer reports 74 units entered the poppy poster contest the largest participation since inception. Winning posters from Roundup Red Lodge and Great Falls were displayed at the department convention in Butte. Three Rivers District No. 8 won the most honors and recognition. Delegates Mrs. John Armstrong and Mrs. Bert I. Packer represented the Chateau Unit at the convention.
The Merry Girls 4-H club met at Mrs. Chas Allum's home with Arma Allum assisting. Officers elected include Ellen Mae Jaconetty as president Alzora Cook as vice president Margaret Hollingshead as reporter Donna Burch as recreational leader and secretary treasurer.
The Chateau air wardens under the Office of Civilian Defense completed training at a high school meeting and divided the city into 14 zones each led by a warden and assistant. Wardens will enforce blackout rules. a map in Choteau Drug Store shows zones and leaders. Head Warden J. W. Breen heads 62 wardens with substitutes across zones.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gulbrandsen of Pendray announce an open house on Sunday afternoon and evening August 2 to honor their 25th anniversary. They invite friends to visit. The couple married in Great Falls on August 4, 1917 and had two children, Guy and Bob, with Guy deceased.
S N Halvorson county agent calls a meeting of crested wheat grass seed growers for Saturday August 1 at 2 00 p m at the court house to discuss marketing this year's crop and the bag situation.
The county extension office announces the seed cleaning plant is now open and in full operation. Steve Snyder heads the facility.
