Dr Stephens Veteran Dentist Passes Friday
Dr Clarence John Burr Stephens died Friday morning at 9 15 in Columbus hospital Great Falls after a long active career. Born March 16 1864 in Genesee county Michigan he studied dentistry at Michigan University graduating 1887 with high honors. He practiced in Owasso Michigan and later Great Falls then Fort Benton Che teau and finally Great Falls. He was married twice first to Alice B Pormley and then to Edna Marie Medin. one child J Herold was born.

Andover Oil buyers to inspect leases near Fairfield
George M Coffey reported a telegram from C W Litten of Great Falls president of Andover Oil announcing a party of about 20 Chicago stockholders will visit to inspect oil leases on the Burton beach near Fairfield and in Big Coulee between Fairfield and Simms. They plan to drill two test wells with operations possibly starting by month end. The Burton bench test well contract went to J B Carscallen of Shelby.

Chautauqua guarantors face deficit with refunds possible
At a Tuesday guarantors meeting the Chateau 1930 Chautauqua deficit was about 950 dollars. With 33 signers, each owed around 28 dollars though some refunds may reduce the amount. The season’s guarantee was 1250 dollars and refunds depend on door admissions and expenses.
Return from Waterton with Connor Crawford party
The Connor Crawford party returned Monday from a week at Waterton lakes and vicinity. The group included Mr. and Mrs C H Connor of Chateau Mr and Mrs W B Connor of Detroit Mr and Mrs Wm T Crawford of Bole Clayton Crawford and Joe of Chicago and Chas LePage. Connor said the trip was delightful and Canadians treated them well. He noted good fishing and a standout golf score by his son and Clayton Crawford on the Waterton course.

Seven Scouts were honored as camp veterans and three earned honor camper distinctions after returning from Camp Jefferson near Neihart. 115 Scouts participated under R. D. Cook with Russell Conklin as second in charge. activities included tests, swimming, games, and overnight hikes to Judith river and Baldy peak.

The 4 H Sewing club girls of Chateau led by Miss Iona Davidson spent a weekend at the Henry Davidson ranch near Farmington. Mr Davidson provided a tent in a grove and the group cooked their own meals. Attendees included Gordon Eckford, Alice Ledgerwood, Merylyn Ledgerwood, Frances Mellon, Evelyn Hodgskiss, Wilma Van Scharpenzael, and Katherine Van Scharpenzael. They returned Monday morning saying they had a pleasant outing.

The fourth annual Teton county crop tour begins with a Great Falls banquet at Rainbow hotel as Cascade and Pondera counties join the event. The caravan will visit Sun River reclamation projects, Chateau and Con Rad, with planned picnics and dinners under leaders T. S. Fosse R. E. Cameron and Dan P. Thurber. The tour continues through Friday with farm visits in Conrad and Saturday in Pondera county.

Federal Marketing Plan For Livestock Explained At Chateau Meeting
Louis Vinke of the Montana Lamb Marketing Association outlined a new marketing plan developed with Federal Farm Board allies. The Intermountain Livestock Marketing Association now includes Wyoming Colorado New Mexico Utah Nebraska and Montana and operates within the National Marketing Association. It aims to move stock directly from range to feedlots and funds feeder purchases. The Intermountain Credit Corporation carries 500000 capital with 400000 government stock and 100000 preferred stock at 100 per share. Producer membership costs 10 and fees apply per head for sheep and cattle. Farmers may switch markets with notice, incurring per head charges. Forty three growers attended and voted to approve the plan.
