Tragic child killed by car near Chateau
Five year old Alice Winifred Van Bolcum, daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Van Bolcum, was instantly killed when a car driven by Oliver Hanson struck her as she darted from behind a stalled vehicle on the highway one mile northwest of Chateau. The neck was broken and the scalp torn. an inquest is set.

Miss Winona Gitchel, a 1932 Teton County high school graduate, ranked among the two highest students at North Montana College in the spring quarter. Records show 18 credits and 54 honor points, tying with Ruby K Schwaber of Harlem, with five students earning straight A grades. Gitchel will teach next year.

The Utah-Idaho Sugar company at Chinook mailed a 35 cent per ton extra payment for the 1932 beet crop, totaling $28,000, announced by R. Howard. The final payment will be October 1 after remaining sugar from the crop is processed. This brings growers’ total for 1932 to $399,840 from about 6,000 acres.

A Whippet six plowed into the Cash and Carry front in Chateau injuring nothing but property. Eight year old drove the car, owner E F Erwin a Conrad barber, with settlement offered and accepted. Damages estimated at 150 to 200 dollars. Other crashes on a Spring Creek bridge and on the highway near Chateau caused heavy vehicle damage. A firecracker or cigarette sparked a hole in the Hirshberg store awning.
