Lauris J. Otness 88 longtime Teton county farmer and rancher died Monday in Great Falls Hospital after a two week illness from a heart ailment. Services set for 2 p m Friday at the Lutheran Church with burial at Farmington. Survived by son Charles L. Otness and several brothers and sisters including Eddy J Otness Bert Zuinermoen and Mesina Oien. Born May 22 1862 in Norway he came to America in 1872 and to Teton county in 1896 after stints in Lacons Park Minn Clark S D and Miles City.

Monkman Visits Parents Before Fort Billings Assignment
Gordon E. Monkman Jr recently discharged from the armed forces and stationed at Fort Benning in officer candidate school is visiting his parents Mr and Mrs Gordon E Monkman for a few days. He and his wife and two children reside in Billings and he will join Strain Brothers upon Feb 1. Prior to service he was in the National Guard for three years with one year active duty.

High School Squad Wins Two District Rivals Meet
Choteau Bulldogs avenge December loss by downing Browning 32 19 on home floor and beating Dutton 51 29. Scott 11 points led scoring with Dahlin and Hinman 10 each, while Dutton fought hard. Choteau OPA Office to Close After Four Years of Service
After four years of operation the Choteau Office of Price Administration will close. Sugar applications will move to the Helena office with a Great Falls bureau handling the price panel and clerical work. A Great Northern train derailed three miles north of Bynum on the local branch while returning to Chateau from Pendroy. No serious injuries. conductor and crew bruised. Legion Initiates 30 Members Saturday Night
C James Smith post No 6 of the American Legion initiated 30 new members from Cho teau and Teton counties Saturday night during ceremonies led by past No 8 personnel of the Great Falls Legion.
