Hospital board in Teton votes to mail solicitations

Teton County Memorial Hospital association board met at Legion hall Tuesday and approved a circular letter to every boxholder urging monthly pledges. Contrib tions reached 3 543 last week with total about 43 500 pledged. Lions plan heavy canvassing after letters go out and a meeting with the hospital board next Tuesday night to refine campaign plans.

Farmers Union delegates meet in Great Falls and plan local events

Pendroy participants Senator Paul Rice Ethel Ried Charles Field and Roy Page attended the state Farmers Union meeting in Great Falls last Thursday and Friday. A local all day school is set for Pendray Friday 10 to 5 with talks on peacetime conscription poll tax economics and by laws plus a pot lunch at Bole Saturday with five county locals joining for recreation singing and talks by Doris Hibebust and Dorothy Garvin from Great Falls and Kalispell.

County Treasurer Warns Drivers On Plate Deadline

County Treasurer G. E. Monkman warns Teton county motorists of the February 15 deadline to display 1946 license plates. Penalties apply after the date. Licenses sold include 1,292 passenger cars, 81 trucks, and 2,437 drivers permits, with totals similar to last year. The Veterans of Foreign Wars will meet at the Moose Lodge on Tuesday February 12 at 8 PM.

Citizen Plant Sold for New Use on North Main Street

The Teton Citizen building on North Main Street was sold to county coroner Larry Banks who plans a modern store with a second story of apartments and a 50 foot rear extension. Former owner Millard S. Bullerdick will move most of the newspaper plant within about 80 days.

Merchant Team edged Valier Vandals 27 25 at the high school gym. Bob McGann scored 10 and Art Mitchell 8 as Merchants rallied from a 9 1 deficit to win and aid the Teton Memorial hospital fund with about 100 in proceeds.

Hentges Achieves CPA Rating After Second Exam

Walter Hentges son of Mr and Mrs John Hentges of Chateau has passed the CPA examination earning a high rating on his second try. He now works for Walter McGladery Hansen Dunn and Co Cedar Rapids Iowa after graduating from Northwestern University two years ago. His parents are visiting New Orleans La and expect to stay until April.

Mrs John Daley dies at Chateau Great Falls

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist church for Mrs. John J. Daley 85 of Chateau after a month long illness. Born Ann Lund in Stavanger Norway she came to America at eight. widow of John H. Daley they had 13 children. Burial in Chateau cemetery Banks Funeral home in charge.

A funeral mass was held at St Josephs parish for John L Sabados 63a of Bynum who died at Great Falls hospital. Rev J J Sheerin celebrated with Rev T J Moroney deacon and Rev Russel Scheidler subdeacon. Burial at Chateau cemetery. He was born July 22 1883 in Cleveland Ohio. Survived by two brothers George and Frank Sabados. Pallbearers named Frank Zgoda Clarence Rose Charles Purkett Carl Kochman George Kochman Sr and Jr. Rosary said Tuesday night.

Ex Pan American Pilot Named Chateau Airport Manager

Bob Waltermire of Missoula was appointed manager of the Chateau airport by the Choteau Airport commission, replacing Ben Chalmers. The one year contract covers immediate student instruction and passenger hops, plus a crop dusting program and ground school. Waltermire plans to sell the Johnson Rocket and Cessna aircraft and to start charter service after securing a larger plane.

Old-Time Settler Lauris Otness Buried in Farmington

Lauris J. Otness, 83, longtime Teton County stockman, was laid to rest in Farmington cemetery after funeral services at Choteau Lutheran church. Rev. A. B. Gravdal led the rites with a brief sermon by Rev. Land of Great Falls. Pallbearers included Henry Nyhus, C. M. Swenson, Charles Piere, Robert Thorn, T. O. Larson, and Denzel McDonald. The Banks Funeral Home supervised arrangements. Born May 22, 1862, in Norway, he came to the United States in 1872 and later lived in Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota before moving to Montana in 1898.
