Excavation work for the Teton Memorial hospital in Chateau will start this weekend after surveys by Corwin and Co of Great Falls. The hospital association aims to raise 40000 in 30 days to build a 22 bed facility, with Uncle Sam matching every dollar and a 60 000 federal grant if the goal is met,.

Canadian Union Jacks Defeat Legion Five On Local Court

The Canadian Union Jacks from Raymond Alberta defeated the American Legion five 57 to 30 on home courts with a small crowd present. Halftime stood at 28 to 11 as Chateau showed speed but limited power. All proceeds, totaling 21, supported the Match of Dimes while James Dellwo refereed without pay.

Choteau VFW Post Initiates Nine New Members

Nine new members were initiated into VFW Post No. 4605 in Choteau. A mass meeting of Teton county taxpayers discussed schooling for Hutterite families aiming to educate children to normal living standards. The session also covered the sale of state lands to secular groups with over 150 attendees. Elizabeth Ireland, Helena state superintendent, said Hutterite colonies may open private schools without accreditation if they teach morality and avoid subversive subjects. 28 Drivers Fail State Exams At Chateau Test Center

In a three day session from Monday to Wednesday, 120 drivers were tested and 28 failed the state exams. The exams were supervised by Chief Examiner A E Buck with Patrolman Henry Helf and Set William Cahill assisting. Failures were mainly on the outside driving test and video phase, including hand signals, parallel parking, and stop signs.
