Frank DeMars 79 Buried at Fairfield Cemetery
Frank DeMars born November 20 1868 in Fargo North Dakota died last Saturday. He rode the Bear Paw range near Big Sand and later lived in Cascade and Fairfield. Services were held Tuesday at Community church with Rev. E O Pearson officiating. Survivors include Mrs R T Loss of Fairfield and brother James DeMars of Clearfield Utah.

Army Recruiter To Visit Here Each Tuesday
Sergeant E R Kearsley of the U S Army and U S Air Force recruiting station at Conrad will recruit in the Choteau region and hold interviews each Tuesday 1 to 3 PM in the Larson building state unemployment office. In 1947 Montana enlisted 1007 men in regular army and air forces including many World War II veterans seeking security and education. 178 enlistments were in the Great Falls area.

A Red Cross course titled Care of the Sick with 32 nursing procedures is held thrice weekly in Chateau courthouse. Instructor Mrs. L. K. Test Not Needed By Drivers Who Lost 47 License
Montana motorists who misplaced the 1947 license will not face 1948 tests. The Montana highway patrol advised the county treasurer that many last year licenses were lost, reducing the burden on examiners. Drivers must sign an affidavit claiming a 1947 license was lost, and the county will collect fees and hold the old license until 1948 forms arrive.

Canadian Union Jacks of Raymond to Play Legion Club
The traveling Canadian Union Jacks of Raymond Alberta will meet the Chateau American Legion quintet on the local floor next Wednesday night January 28 at 8 o clock. The Union Jacks are set to appear as a semi professional team on the Chateau court for many years. Legion defeated the National Guard 54 to 42 last Sunday and beat Brass Rail 45 to 37 Tuesday night.

The county treasurer reports at week end totals of 1 262 cars 956 trucks 58 trailers and 37 exempt plates issued. Receipts for 1948 licenses totaled 2 590 vs 1 672 in 1947 and 2 125 in 1946. About 125 applicants are held awaiting proper ownership transfer and correct registration before receipts can be issued.
