Automobile Smashed In Truck Collision At Chateau

A Kaiser Frazer sedan driven by Rev. T. M. Burleson sustained about 800 dollars of damage when it collided with a Montana highway panel truck on First Avenue NW near the craft shop. Occupants suffered only minor bruises. The wreck occurred after both vehicles entered the intersection. a pile of building tile may have blocked the view. Patrolman Helf was away. W Earl Hollar investigated and charges awaited Helf's return.

Red Deer Council Moves to Oust Hutterite Colony

In Red Deer district council proceedings Friday two resolutions were drafted to oppose Hutterite colonization. One urges the provincial government to block colonies, the other requests land purchase restrictions on Hutterites to limit new settlements. Protest followed a Ridgewood meeting where 200 farmers voiced opposition after land purchases totaling about $100,000.

Funeral services for Phil Rodolph scheduled in Choteau

Funeral services for Phil Rodolph 63 former Teton county rancher who died in Spokane will be held tomorrow at 2 PM at the Methodist church in Choteau with Rev Harold Engdahl officiating. Burial will be in Choteau cemetery in the family plot. Rodolph left Choteau for Spokane 13 years ago and worked for a gas company until his death. Survivors include wife Jennie, four daughters Vera Owen Mike Basetta Priscila and Pauline Rodolph all of Spokane and son Ralph of Spokane. He is uncle to several relatives in Great Falls and Kalispell. Pallbearers named Jim Peebles Tim Cook Horace Baskett Gus McDonald Tom Liscum Clyde Darby.

Sheriff Peterson Hosts Trio Of Juvenile Detainees

Three girls from the state vocational school at Helena were picked up by the Choteau sheriff's office after a Fairfield man bought breakfast and notified the sheriff. The youngsters gave false names but later admitted their identities. They were Margaret Pickett 16 Carol Selby 17 and Marie Prouty 17 with homes in Butte Lewistown and Kalispell. They spent the day in the county jail before being returned to the Helena correction school.

Montana farm price index surges past 1946 figures

Montana farmers see prices rise across sectors in mid-December with the index at 307 percent of the 1909-14 average, up 9 percent from November and 77 percent from 1946. Dairy, poultry, and meats lead gains, with wholesale milk at 4.80 per cwt and beef cattle at 21.50 per cwt, while wheat and barley climb as well. Local Teton County prices list wheat, butterfat, chickens, and eggs. further details continued on page eight.

Ship Will Fly Four Persons In Charter Trips

A new four place Waco bi plane at the Choteau airport was flown from Seattle last week and purchased by Bob Waltermire. It will be used for charter trips and training pilots for commercial licenses with three passengers plus the pilot aboard. The single engine plane is the second added by Waltermire, who also recently bought a yellow six place Cessna. The service also operates a Taylorcraft in Billings and a Piper cub crop duster.

Group Reports Success In Mobile Unit Project

Reports reveal the X-Ray Mobile unit in Choteau last week examined 1 538 people over age 12 during a four day stay. The unit served Dutton Power Fairfield Greenfield and drew rural turnout from Pendroy Bynum Agawam Farmington Collins and the west Chateau area. More than 3 000 people walked through in Teton county with daily staffing of 10 and high praise for operations.

Choteau Insurance Man Receives Silver Beaver Award

About 100 people from 17 counties attended a Falls meeting where Atty. Gen. R W Bottomly presented the Silver Beaver Award to Hanusa for distinguished service to Boyhood. The event also elected notable honorary council members and outlined a 1948 budget of 36 000 for operations and 14 000 for the capital fund.

Petitions Circulated to Buy Chateau School Property

Registered electors in Chateau district circulate petitions to call an election on purchasing Teton County High School property for 60000 in bonds. Twenty percent of district electors must sign, about 200 names, based on last assessment rolls. If approved, funds cover purchase and building repairs including heating and wiring.

Janet Suiste Rites Set for 17 Year Old

Funeral services for Janet Jane Suiste 17 will be held Saturday at 2 PM in the Methodist church at Choteau with Rev H L Engdahl officiating. She died of a heart ailment in Kalispell and is survived by her parents and a brother Kenneth Charles. Burial is in Choteau cemetery.

Nursing Class To Start Monday At Courthouse

The first class in Home Care of the Sick in Teton county begins Monday January 19 at the courthouse in Chateau. Father Dies of Heart Attack in Oregon

Peter Tony, father of Mrs. John Malone, died of a heart attack last Wednesday in South Bend Oregon. Funeral services were held Monday at Edgeley North Dakota attended by Mrs. Malone and her son Jerry both of Choteau.
