Finley Promotes Local Science Fair March 23
Albert Finley, Chateau high school science instructor and Lions club program chairman, urged attendance at the District Science Fair to be held at the local high school on March 23. The Power Pirates coached by Owen Loftsgaarden defeated the Simms Tigers 68 to 50 to win the class C district 12 tournament at Great Falls. Belt Huskies led by Don Peterson earned second place with a 56 to 37 win over Simms in a Monday night game, advancing both teams to the divisional meet.

Montana Supreme Court Denies Duane Alexander Appeal
The Montana Supreme Court unanimously denied Alexander's appeal after a district court found him guilty of second degree assault for a March 17 1956 shooting at Emil Durr ranch west of Choteau. Judge Hattersley sentenced him to five years in Deer Lodge prison.

Walter F. Ellis Dies in Great Falls Age 71
Walter F. Ellis, 71, longtime Lincoln resident, died Friday at Teton Memorial Hospital. Born March 5, 1885 in Lander Wyoming, he ranchd near Great Falls before moving to Lincoln in 1936. Survivors include two daughters Fern Routzahn and Ruth Williams and a son James H. Ellis, plus four sisters and five grandchildren. Funeral held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Great Falls Mortuary with Rev. George E Hu lac officiating. burial in Highland cemetery.
