Town Team Hosts Cubs and Cascade in Home Twin Bill

Benefit Dance For Ernst Thorn Wheelchair Fund
A benefit dance will be held on March 7 to raise money for a wheelchair for Ernst Thorn, who was injured last fall on the Great Falls Belt road and has been a patient at Columbus hospital in Great Falls. Farm Mechanics School Draws Big Attendance Saturday
A large turnout of farmers attended the first meeting of the Farm Mechanics school in Teton county led by A B Guthrie. Eighteen farmers enrolled for a six hour Saturday session focusing on rope work, metal repair, tool sharpening, and shop projects.

Pioneer Ranch Near Chateau Changes Hands
The Francois Truchot ranch near Chateau Montana changed hands this week. George Stuper bought from Mrs Louis H Nichols daughter of Teton cattleman now living in San Jose California. He will convert the ranch into a dairy operation and take possession immediately. The property covers 730 acres on Spring Creek about a mile and a half north of Chateau.

Six carloads of horses were shipped Tuesday on the Great Northern. Jas Connole Northwestern Tractor Machinery Co and George Reiken each sent two cars. Connole loaded one car at here and one at Pendroy for Minnesota Transfer at St Paul. Reiken’s horses shipped from Bynum to Iowa while the Northwestern company’s staged from Bole to Willmar Minn.

J E Daughters five strength died Sunday night at Chateau hospital from creeping paralysis. He resided seven miles west of Fairfield on a Montana ranch since homesteading there after moving from Indiana. Survived by three sisters in Ohio and Indiana. Talkies to Be Installed in Chateau Next July
Mrs. E. J. Crary, owner of the Royal theater, announced plans to install talking pictures in July. The theater will close for about a month, likely starting July 10, to accommodate the changes. Ashcraft automatic lamps were installed last fall at nearly $1,000 as part of the preparations.

Fire Leaves Thorn Family Destitute Near Pat Crossen Place
A Saturday night blaze in the Lake Basin district destroyed the Jim Thorn home and all possessions. Six children survived with five at home. Ernst, injured last fall, is hospitalized in Great Falls. Neighbors and the Red Cross mobilized aid and food supplies, with Beaupre hotel serving as a collection point. Local relief efforts quickly organized for the Thorn family.
