Hospital Drive Seeks 17000 More In Teton County

Donors push toward a 70000 goal for the Teton Memorial Hospital fund as ground excavation continues at the Chateau site. Through last week a total of 22229 has been raised with 17770 still needed. The drive offers three prizes including a 1100 lb steer and a radio phonograph. drawings take place March 17 at a Moose lodge benefit.

March of Dimes Drives Nets $1272 In County

The infantile paralysis March of Dimes campaign in Teton county this year grossed $2599.84. County treasurer Mrs. H. C. Huffman reports expenses of $55.33. Net to be retained by the county is $1272.25, 50 percent, with the same amount sent to the National foundation. Contributions by community include Chateau 616.26 Dutton 456.05 Collins 82 Bynum 80.50 Farmington 64.25 Pendroy 132 Power 261.90 Agawam 42.50 Bole 28 Fairfield 836.38.

Lutheran Ladies Donate Over $200 to Teton Memorial

The Lutheran Ladies aid of Chateau handed more than 200 dollars to the Teton Memorial Hospital association this week from a successful food sale held last Saturday. They sponsored the bazaar and luncheon at the Old Legion club rooms and provided food and services, thanking the public for strong patronage.

Wilma Tracy daughter of Lyman and Mrs Tracy of Sunny Slope wed Sergeant Melton Beck son of Mr and Mrs J H Beck of May Texas in a candlelight ceremony at the bride’s parents home. Lat ter Day Saints President Lloyd Croxford officiated with May Tracy as bridesmaid and Russell Stuart as best man. A reception followed with songs by Lloyd Croxford and family. New VFW Lounge Opens Tonight in Chateau Building

The Veterans of Foreign Wars post at Chateau opens a new lounge and club room adjoining the Howard bar tonight at 7 30. Public invited for the grand opening with a Dutch lunch. the lounge will close to non members after Thursday night. The new space seats 52, features indirect lighting and green tones, and includes eleven furniture pieces.

Lions aid Red Cross and hospital drive funds

The Chateau Lions club reports a $750 donation to Te ton Memorial hospital association and a $790 contribution to the Red Cross led by a canvassing drive in the business district. Also noted were remarks on the district basketball tournament at Great Falls and Lions activities in Dutton.

High School Concert Slated for March 12

The Chateau high school music department announces a midwinter concert on March 12 in the high school auditorium. Senior and junior bands, the glee club, girls sextet, clarinet quartet and soloists perform. Tickets available from music students. proceeds support the school music program.

Methodist Circles Plan Hospital Benefit Dinner

Members of the Methodist circles present a public dinner in the church tomorrow to raise funds for Teton Memorial Hospital. Food will be brought by members and friends, with both fish dinners and various meats served cafeteria style. Diners pay what they please, serving starts at 5 pm and runs all evening.

Hospital Trap Shoot Scheduled for Sunday

More than 50 Chateau business houses donated prizes for a trap shoot on Golf Course Hill this Sunday Feb 29. Shooting starts 11 am and may continue all day if weather permits. proceeds go to the hospital after expenses. The Chateau trap club offers free traps and staff. VFW post contributed 400 dollars from a prior benefit event.

Chateau Bulldogs win district title for third straight year

Chateau Bulldogs clinched the district 10 basketball title with a 46 31 victory over Fairfield Eagles at Great Falls. Fort Benton finished second after beating Fairfield 41 36, earning a spot in the divisional playoffs at Great Falls March 4 6. The top two from each divisional tournament advance to the state Class B finals at Laurel March 18 20. Chateau previously beat Fort Benton 43 37 and St Marys 39 32 in the tourney to secure the crown.

Funeral Service For Chappy Forgey Held In Choteau

Funeral services for Frances Frances Chappy Forgey 61 former Choteau resident were held yesterday at the Choteau Methodist church after her death in St Ignatius last week. She operated Chappy's cafe in Choteau until 1940 and managed Texaco cabins before the war. She later lived near Flathead Lake and Chateau area with recent years in Dixon. She was born September 19 1887 in Barnsville Minnesota and married James Chapman in 1907 then Grover Forgey in 1932. Her husband drowned in 1940 at Wood's Bay Flathead Lake and body was never recovered. She left a number of cousins and no close relatives. Cremation followed at the Great Falls Mausoleum.

Property Assessments Begin at County Centers Next Week

Property assessments for Teton county real and personal property will start at 12 o clock noon next Monday March 1. Assessments will occur at Agawam Schaeffer store on March 2 Bynum Purkett store on March 3 Pendray John Swanson office on March 4 and Collins Waterman store on March 5. The following week the assessor will visit Dutton Power Greenfield and Fairfield on listed dates and returns may be made at those sites or the assessor's Chateau office. Those owning motor vehicles on January 1 1948 should bring registration or relevant details for assessment.
