Funeral services for John G. Zier held in Billings
Former Agawam farmer John George Zier died of a heart attack February 17 in Billings. Born November 27 1879 in Dittle Russia he married Eva Lackman in 1904 and they later settled in Kansas Laurel and Hysham before moving to Agawam in 1930 then Billings in 1949. Survivors include seven sons two daughters and a sister. Last rites were at St Pauls Lutheran Church with interment at Mountview Cemetery.

The Teton county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee released this year’s list of soil and water conservation practices eligible for Federal cost sharing. The county was allocated 120000 for government share, up from 94000 last year, to support producers who perform conservation work. The program includes vegetative cover establishment, contour stripcropping, field stripcropping, erosion control plantings, improved rangeland cover, shrub control, livestock wells and springs, dam construction and enlargement, livestock water pipelines, and related projects.

At special meetings the Choteau high and elementary school boards approved a March 12 special election to consider two bonds. The high school district would issue 36000 for gym completion at about 3 percent mills yearly for two years with no petition. District 1 elementary voters would decide 35000 for three classrooms a heating unit and lavatories at Chateau elementary on a 10 year bond at about 1 percent mills yearly.
