First annual Montana Polled Hereford sale tops 1150
At Great Falls Friday the Montana Polled Hereford Association held its first sale. Prince Weist 4th brought the high price of 1150 dollars. The grand champion was consigned by Ern est Weist with J S Weist purchasing. Top ten bulls averaged 768 50. Banquet at Hotel Rainbow followed the show and awards.

Casualty Underwriters Cut Montana Car Insurance Rates
National Bureau of Casualty Underwriters says Montana private passenger car policies issued through independent agents or brokers now qualify for reduced rates from 9 to 32 percent. The changes affect about a quarter of insured vehicles and do not raise any rates. Younger women under 25 see the biggest cuts, with some saves up to 21 dollars annually. The revision recognizes family cars are less hazardous when the only young drivers are women.

McCombs Fined for DWI in Monday Court Hearing
Amos Hugh McCombs of Chateau was fined 150 dollars and had his driver's license revoked after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated in Justice William Irwin's court on Monday. He served two days in jail and paid 146 dollars in restitution. In a separate incident, Airman 2c Albert A. Cook of East Base Great Falls wrecked on Augusta highway and was fined 25 dollars for reckless driving plus 10 dollars for failure to use a seat belt. Passenger Ben Allum of Chateau was bruised and treated at a hospital and released.

Mrs. Chet Abbott was elected president of the Chateau Girl Scout Association with Mrs. Ed Schiller as vice president and Mrs. T. W. Miller as secretary. Sixteen troops total 74 girls, led by Troop 9 head Myles Standish and Russell Larson. The 1963-54 council includes Mrs. Jean Farrow as president and Mrs. Larry Banks as vice president. High school seniors from seven towns attended a career day on February 11 in Choteau. Choteau led with 32 students, followed by Fairfield 27 Simms 23 Augusta 20 Cascade 12 Power 11 and Dutton 8. Most interest fell in secretary engineering and mechanical construction. Speakers were mostly local, including Dr B L Johnson head of the chemistry department at MSC.

Leuther, a Montana farm boy from Stillwater county and MSU honors graduate, will begin U S Marine Corps active duty after completing a speaking tour mid March. The International Farm Youth Exchange pays for the tour with support from 4 H clubs and local groups in Teton county, with no government funds involved.

Funeral services for Thomas G. Doheny 77 a former Teton county farmer were held in Great Falls after his death Saturday in a local hospital Born November 23 1877 in Sleepy Eye Minnesota he married Mable Drake in 1903 The family moved to Montana in 1909 and later to Great Falls Survivors include his widow three daughters three sons a sister and three brothers 30 grandchildren and three great grandchildren Last rites were conducted at OConnor's and St Gerard's with a Requiem Mass Burial followed at Mt Olivet Cemetery.
