The tenth annual Farmers Fun Feed at Teton County High School next Thursday plans a dinner program and dance for 450 attendees. Tickets are nearly sold out at 75 cents each, with a ham dinner served at 6:30 by the domestic science department led by Miss Evelyn Mattmiller. Former county agent Robert Clarkson may attend, honoring the founder of the event.
The Three Rivers district of the American Legion and auxiliary held its annual convention in Fort Benton with Choteau Dutton and Fairfield posts attending. District leaders and state officials praised Fort Benton hospitality and a war memorial manned by local business support.
Mrs. Mary Monkman notes clipping from North Plainfield about Mr. and Mrs. William Heckman observing their 57th wedding anniversary. The Heckmans formerly lived near Gilman, with daughters Rose Suzzane and Eleanor nearby at a Bynum homestead, settlers in South Dakota since 1886. He recalls cattle-raising days and opposition to forced relocation of families and livestock. she says 57 years feels short and has no complaints.
Miss Florence Trescott and Carl Polutnik drove up from Great Falls Sunday to spend the day.
The Sons and Daughters of Tetons Oldest Settlers held their annual party with an estimated record turnout. Ticket sales reached 130 as locals and guests from Great Falls Troy Missoula Chateau Agawam and Bynum attended a long night of dancing supper and meetings at the Masonic temple. Officers for the next year were elected Joel Otness Agawam president Shirley Wallace Chateau vice president Arvil Monkman Bynum secretary and C D McDonald reelected treasurer.
Great Falls Coach Lines will start a daily bus service March 1 on highway 87 linking Great Falls and Browning in cooperation with Milwaukee railroad. Two buses a day will operate in opposite directions with capacity 25 to 30 passengers. Existing buses will be used. new buses will serve Glasgow. A supervisor will survey stations along the route.
The Chateau Racketeers book two strong teams for local games. The Brady Aces visit tonight for a return game, then face Shelby All-Stars on a date to be announced. The Racketeers want to even their close last Friday setback.
A. H. Gray, referee in bankruptcy, signs an order allowing trustee W. C. Cameron to pay creditors 6990.50, about 25 percent of claims. Earlier 20,971.50 was paid, leaving 27,962 total. Remaining assets will be applied to Lake Grain and H. B. Lake Co. debts after asset sales and receivables.
Obert Peterson traveled to Helena on Sunday to bring back his wife from visiting her daughter Miss Marybelle a junior at Intermountain Union college. Mr and Mrs George Carroll accompanied the Petersons and returned with them.
A series of all day meetings across Chateau Power Fairfield Collins Dutton and Pendrey ran Saturday through Wednesday. Speakers included Albert Borton Fred Willson W D Reiquam and F R Swenson discussing wheat contracts corn hog programs and AAA results. Total corn hog benefits in Teton county reached about 14000 with 3600 second payment received and county admin costs listed.
Two Teton county youths Clayton Mainard and Ellwood Foster face charges after wheat theft from local farmers. About 66 bushels were involved with sales in Great Falls and Conrad. Mainard admitted guilt. Foster was arrested in Great Falls and returned to Chateau to face burglary charges.
Funeral services for Nels Richem and Mrs. Della Peters were held Saturday at the Methodist church. Rev. Edwin Dover officiated with Chas. G. Roberts directing. Richem, a Burton Beach pioneer, died last week at Warm Springs and Peters died Wednesday. Interments followed in Choteau cemetery.
The 4 H Clever Cooks and Nimble Needles hosted a Valentine gathering at the Masonic hall drawing 275 to 300 attendees from Chateau Pendroy Diamond Valley Bole Farmington Power and Fairfield. Parents leaders and club members enjoyed a community sing program and a sequence of skits reports and musical numbers.
Death comes to Mrs W A Emerick after month long illness at home and stroke. She died at Deaconess hospital Great Falls at 11 pm. Survived by husband W A Emerick and two sons Louis DeNayer of Billings and Edward DeNayer of Los Angeles.
The first round of the annual flag contest, organized by the state education department with county superintendents and American Legion auxiliary units, held last Friday, selected delegates to two district contests on March 1 at Dutton and Fairfield. County winners advance to a March 8 county contest in Chateau, then to Shelby for a March 29 regional, and finally to Helena on April 12 for the state contest. The event splits students into fifth–sixth and seventh–eighth grade groups, with only upper-group winners advancing beyond the county round.
Amarilla Gleason aged 88 died February 11 in a Helena hospital after ten years confinement. Sister of the late John Gleason Sr and aunt of J S Gleason Irma Parker and Alma Perry. Known as Billa she suffered a paralytic stroke at eight and used a wheelchair 80 years. Funeral services were held in Helena with Rev Earl Van Doren officiating and interment at Forestvale cemetery.
Georgia Frost, a former Choteau girl and Teton County High School graduate, recounts life in the far north as the wife of hunter and trapper Chris Trebesh. Frost is the daughter of Chas Frost, a former Choteau merchant and county farmer, and Trebesh appeared last summer on Teton's Own chautauqua program.

Transfers to the general shelf include Mrs Green's Daughter-in-Law, Silk Stocking Murder, Maurice Guest, The Great Meadow, The God's Arrival, Letter Goes On, and other titles from various authors.
