Warren Daley Shin Killed by Japanese Forces in World War II
Halvor Daley, a Chateau accountant, received a letter from Navy Secretary James Forrestal stating Warren Daley, aviation machinist’s mate third class aged 23, was killed by the Japanese on April 27, 1945 after his aircraft went down near Tamquitam Indo China. Daley had been listed missing since January 26, 1945, with early speculation he survived the crash and was in a jungle outpost. Two crew members later liberated from Japanese custody said the plane’s crew survived and were helped by French forces to Pleiku.

Charles A Straight Dies at Cut Bank Veteran and Former Garage Owner
Charles A Straight 57, once garage owner at Chateau, died after a four week illness in Cut Bank on Tuesday. Funeral services set for 2 PM at Elks Temple Cut Bank, burial at Grown Hill Cemetery. A World War I veteran, he also worked as a railway telephone operator at Bell and ran garages in Browning and Chateau. February is hospital month for Teton county.

Wool Meeting Slated At Great Falls

Mrs W W Cole Remembered In Fairfield Area
Mrs Wheeler Cole 61 died suddenly last Thursday at home near Fairfield after a heart attack. A charter Congregational church member and first president of Community Ladies Aid, she also led Teton's Oldest Settlers. Hundreds attended the funeral at Fairfield's Community Congregational church with local and Seattle relatives among mourners.

AAA Leaders Meet In Choteau On Saturday For Agriculture Plans
Agricultural leaders from all parts of Teton county will gather at Chateau in Choteau on Saturday to discuss the 1946 Agricultural Conservation program.
