Fire Menaces Part Of City On Monday Night
In sub zero weather and a blizzard the Chateau volunteer fire department fought a stubborn blaze in the Valley house near Social Center hall on Main avenue. It burned from a second floor room into the attic, with smoke and water damaging most of the home. Firemen worked two hours in freezing conditions, adding a third hose line as flames reappeared. The residents included Wayne and Margaret Randall and Jim Cook family. Evelyn Walley and Christine Rudolph were rescued. Mayor Burns later treated the crew to coffee and doughnuts at Beaupre cafe.

4H club officials postponed the all county Valentine rally scheduled for this Saturday night due to heavy snow and blizzard conditions. A new date has not been set but tentative plans call for restoring the program when a date is chosen.

Chateau Racketeers dominated the Dutton Independents 61 to 27 in a Sunday matinee play with dazzling passing and early lead. Tearles led scoring with 26 for the Racketeers while Cohoe topped Dutton with 14. a dollar-a-point penalty added to the stakes.

Lions Stage Joyful Ladies Night At Chateau
Chateau Lions hosted a ladies night at the Masonic temple on Tuesday with a tax service for snow relief and a potluck meal. About 75 attended, with 90 covers. guests included Lioness members and a guest from outside the club. W. W. Smith presided, L. E. Taylor led the program, and Billie Baillie reported on the Chateau Boy Scout troop activities and invited all Lions to the anniversary rally next Tuesday. Musical numbers featured Mrs. TR. FE Nelson and Mrs. Arnold Hanusa, plus a trumpet solo by John Billings.

County Superintendent Inez Eckford announces dates for the annual flag contest run with the American Legion auxiliary and state education department. Preliminary contests begin February 28, with inter county rounds March 6 and 20 for county winners. Regional meets April 3 precede the state contest in Helena on April 17. last year Johnny Shoquist and Margaret Mehl won regionals and competed at state.

Honor Certificate Awarded to Teton Red Cross Chapter
The Teton chapter of the American Red Cross and chair Miss Margaret Nagle receive an honor certificate for surpassing the Christmas roll call goal. Algon Udin led the effort with active help from the chapter chair and workers. Baxter of the Midwestern Red Cross congratulated Udin for 205 remittance and 410 memberships, noting this exceeded the goal and was the chapter's best since 1933.
