A supply of applications for payment on adjusted compensation certificates has reached the Chateau post of the American Legion. A post meeting next Monday night will focus on filing these applications with ex service men invited. About 45 members exist. if all cannot be handled in one evening, past members get first consideration. Bob Harwood of Dutton was among out of town visitors Monday.

Birthday Balls Net Big Receipts Across County
Under Mrs. Clarence Looney and local committees four birthday balls last Thursday raised net totals of 148.65 from Chateau 49 from Pendroy 101 from Fairfield and 160 from Dutton with remaining questions on Dutton and other towns. The event featured a high school band in new uniforms and a grand march led by Boy Scouts, followed by a birthday cake and refreshments. Thirty percent of net proceeds go to New York for infantile paralysis. the rest stays local for a similar cause.

Old Time Cowboy of This Region Buried at Augusta
Orrie Thomas Brown an early era cowboy of the Choteau and Augusta region was laid to rest in Augusta on Monday attended by Mrs. H. D. Robison of Choteau the uncle of Mrs. Robison. Born May 8 1877 in Paris Missouri he later moved to Montana with his parents ranched and worked for Flowerree Cattle Co until 1905. Ill health led him to quit ranching he moved to Gilman and then Augusta where he served as local brand inspector. He is survived by his wife three children and many relatives.

Racketeers Show Up Fine Against Harlemite Quint
The Racketeers faced the Harlemites in a high school gym battle, trailing 14 13 after one, then 30 21 at halftime. Harlemites exploded in the third quarter, finishing strong to beat the Racketeers 50 40. Referee Dinty Moore praised the Harlemites performance and announced a March 21 rematch with the Terrible Swedes.

Fire destroys Edwards Farm House near Collins
A fire about 10 am Tuesday reduced N. W. Edwards ranch home in Premium Center, west of Collins. Sam Huslid, employed two years by Edwards, escaped. Ben Wolk and wife lost a new range and belongings valued around 3900, with little insurance, while neighbors saved some items. Fire likely started from falling chimney soot. the 1913-constructed frame house stood at about 1500 in value.
