A report from Mrs. Truman Rowan lists area residents who attended the Montana Picnic in Phoenix Arizona last week. Dutton residents include Archie McRee and family, David McAmber and family, Herb Walker and family, L O Kellogg and family, L B Cox and Lloyd H Cox, T J Cheetham and family, P H McClellan and family, Daniel Donaldson and family, Conrad Schuler and Albert Reinke and others. Attendees from Chateau Fairfield and Augusta areas are also named.
City Clerk Jim Sulgrove announced that the Chateau city council approved several building permits this week. George Hood moves a frame residence in Hobson addition. R F Zion adds a bedroom and utility room in Hazletts. Ted Halvorson adds a brick and tile kitchen to the Chateau Drug. Dale Blakely builds a block garage in Hazletts.
James E. Torbett of the Great Falls Social Security office spoke to about 80 Lions and guests at the Lutheran church basement for a Ladies Night program. He explained how to obtain benefits, described survivor cases, and outlined the 1935 act with amendments in 1937 1939 and 1946.
Hutterite colony on the former Gault ranch east of Choteau expands into a village with three 96 foot community halls housing eight families each. Two barns a creamery poultry house kitchen and wash house rise as plumbing and wiring proceed. A school and church are under construction with both German and English spoken.
H E Culley urged more members as 100 plus cub scouts, boy scouts, parents and officials gathered in the Legion banquet room for a potluck to mark 38 years of scouting in the United States. He noted growth from one scout to over two million and praised cub scouting as a family activity. Awards were presented by Cub Master Wallace Thompson and Scout Master William Olsen to several cubs and scouts before notes of future recruitment.
Lloyd Nelson, a former Bulldog high scorer, re enrolled at Chateau High School and will play in the sub district tournament at Fairfield tomorrow night. He may be eligible for district play at Great Falls next week if the Montana High School Athletic Association ruling holds, after board consultation. Carlton Dahlin strained a back but likely will play in the final Chateau game at Fairfield and possibly at Great Falls.
The House of David bearded basketball troupe will match up with the Choteau American Legion town team in an exhibition game next Wednesday night at Choteau High School. The touring squad, known for showmanship, features Capt. Bob Hallisey and a mix of veterans and two-year men, including George Anderson as manager, Bob Morton, Jack Walton, Nick Bloom, Vince East, and Ralph Miller.
Farmers of Teton county and friends are invited to the International Harvester Family Party at Dutton and Chateau next week. Gene Lewis and his trio and Russ Charles will perform as northwest favorites. Shows are Thursday at 2 PM in Dutton high school and Friday at 2 PM in the Chateau Roxy theatre. Sponsors are Dale Implement Co and Dutton Farmers Machinery Co. The program includes color travel and educational films and a $1 500 accordion act with The Blue Busters band featuring Lewis, Hedgecock, Grayson, and Jackson, all ex-WLS performers.
Montana highway patrol officials will conduct driver license examinations at the Choteau courthouse on February 24 and 25 with A. E. Buck of Great Falls and Patrolman Henry Helf administering. This marks the second Choteau test appearance since the 1948 license law. Drivers without Montana licenses last year and chauffeurs must take the examination. repeat testers may apply for re examination. Outdoor and indoor tests will be given and manuals are available at the courthouse for study.
A large turnout of over 40 singers attended the first Easter Cantata choir rehearsal led by director Marge Hanusa. Guest soloist Lyle Squires of Fairfield will perform in The Seven Last Words of Christ, with rehearsals at the Methodist and Lutheran churches to avoid statewide basketball tournament conflicts.
The regular I O O F social and dance is planned for this Saturday night at Oddfellow hall with members asked to gather at 9 30 o clock.
With two weeks to go the Teton Memorial Hospital association must raise 32182 for a 180000 fully equipped hospital building. After week one only 7818 was raised. donations must be completed by March 1 to trigger a 60000 federal match. Booths will collect pledges at Chateau Drug Co this Friday and Saturday. unpaid pledges due by March 1.

Under Greenfield P T A guidance a county wide citizen meeting is planned at the grade school auditorium February 18 at 8 pm. The purpose is to build support for Montana school legislation and form a 15 member committee to pick a county delegate to a statewide PTA meeting. Superintendent R C Graham asks local groups to appoint representatives and report names.
