Betty Powell wife of Ace Powell passed away Wednesday morning at Chateau hospital after an eight month cancer battle. Born in Smolensk Russia in 1906 she fled the 1915 revolution and later lived in New York City Minneapolis Glacier Park and Chateau. Funeral plans are tentative for Feb 14 with burial at Chateau. Survivors include her husband and a son Dennis Mollander from a prior marriage.

Officials announced a third selective service registration to occur Monday February 16 at multiple locations across Teton County. The Boy Scouts hold a radio Court of Honor at the grade school auditorium beginning at 8 p.m. Tonight's program includes an introduction by Gilbert Lee, an investiture by Bill Olsen, and thirteen local scouts participating.’activites include Second and First Class Awards, Star and Life Awards, Governor’s Message, Eagle Awards, and Taps.

A county defense bond pledge campaign executive meeting at the courthouse decided to launch the drive February 18 lasting three weeks to March 11. Chairman Arnold Hanusa said about 40 committee members attended despite a snowstorm and pledged enthusiastic support.
Over three weeks ending Jan 20 the four high school classes purchased stamps totaling 86.10. Freshmen led with 41.45, sophomores 21.15, and both juniors and seniors 11.25 each. Purchases were voluntary.
H M Daley head of the local defense board returned from a meeting in Great Falls with news rationing of sugar will probably begin about March 1. The plan will be run through schools and autos rationing details are not yet set. Recent tire and tube distributions listed include Edward C. Smith Dutton Grover C Parker Chateau Teton County Lee J Hamer Pendroy John Keller Collins and John E Sullivan Pendroy.
The drive raised a county total of 1868 with a local quota of 1200. Ten percent was retained in the county fund and $1020 sent to national headquarters after $45 retained for the Dutton chapter. The Teton county chapter balance at Chateau stands at $603.00.
The Choteau Bulldogs outplayed heavily favored Fort Benton last Friday at the high school gym in a 23 to 11 win. Rose led scoring with 12, Stott and Inbody contributed strong defense and rebounding as Dellwo added 8 points in a deliberate stall approach.
Evelyn Ziegler and Ernest Carlson were united in marriage Sunday at the Carlson homestead near Farmington with Rev. Grandal officiating. The bride, a 4 H club teacher and dairy team member, is the daughter of Mr and Mrs A C Ziegler of Salem Oregon. The ceremony marked the 5th wedding anniversary of the bride's parents.
Thomas Swan aged 39 of Augusta and Olive Demaury 26 of Augusta obtained a marriage license on February 11. Leonard Koski 42 of Wilbourn and Viola Jerome 43 of Lewistown obtained a license on February 10. Ernest Carlson of Farmington and Evelyn Ziegler of Choteau obtained licenses on February 7.
