Boy Scouts Observe Anniversary Week With Banquet in Chateau
A Boy Scout anniversary program and banquet at the Post Tavern kicks off Friday evening with about 65 in attendance. Harry B. Brooks of the Great Falls Tribune and R. D. Cook of the North Montana area council are the speakers. The event features a court of honor, investiture, drum and bugle music, inter patrol stunts, and merit badges. A proclamation by Mayor C W Burns invites citizens to observe Boy Scout Week and honor the Scouts for their service and citizenship.

Teton’s Oldest Settlers met for their 26th annual reunion at the Masonic hall in Chateau with 90 seated at the banquet. Despite bad roads many members attended. dinner by Chuck’s cafe plus a community sing and performances followed. New members joined. several members and a long poem from Glasgow noted. officers elected. dancing and music by Mrs Cohoe’s orchestra until 2 a m. attendees from Great Falls and Seattle.

The council also moved to create a southwest district for another sewer extension costing about 2822.50 and scheduled a March 1 hearing for objections. An application will be made for a WPA grant.

After nearly two months of extreme cold the region warms up. Sunday night dropped to 24 below zero and Monday night to 21 below. Tuesday saw a 21 degree rise as the low and the following day reached a high of 42 above.
Cattle Trapped in Shed at Ferris Place
Cattle owned by Frank Jimmie Gault were found trapped in a shed on Rolland Ferris property after a week to three weeks of confinement. 13 head were impounded. five died from thirst and starvation, others emaciated. Undersheriff Dellno and officials opened the shed and helped survivors.
