After an hour long debate the Nass chain store bill passed committee of the whole and then third reading with little opposition. It would require all stores in a chain of more than seven to pay 80 dollars each, despite attempts to lower the fee to 40. Smaller stores with gross business of 2,000 or less remain exempt. Debates centered on exempting filling stations and grain elevators, which were defeated. Expected revenue from filing stations totals about 34,000 annually, with total bill revenue around 300,000. A separate measure, H. B. 111, would allow Montana to refine buy and distribute gasoline at up to 100,000 dollars if needed, and would remain valid despite the budget act.

Road to Augusta survey crew arrives in Choteau
State highway survey crew under R. S. Zahniser began work on the Choteau Augusta road, aiming to shorten the route from 31 miles to about 23 or 24. County retires additional road bonds worth sixteen thousand
At a county commission meeting it was decided to retire 16 000 more of the road bonds. The county had previously purchased 360 000 of these bonds on January 7 1932 with a one percent premium. The original issue was 150 000 and the outstanding balance is now 90 000. The ten mill levy for bond sinking and interest may be reduced as bonds are paid.
