Pete Howard Elected President of Sportsmen Group

Pete Howard was elected president of the Teton Sportsmen's Association replacing Dr. Donald Bosshardt. Ray Mills becomes vice president and Herb Foster treasurer. Cecil Garland will present a slide talk at the next meeting on Feb 9 at 8 p.m. in the courthouse. The group discussed antelope deer goat and elk issues and opening the Sun River Game Preserve to hunting to alleviate a firing line problem.

Senior Citizens Club to Elect Officers Next Saturday

Hospital Benefit Dance Planned for Valentine Eve

A Valentine Eve dance will be held Saturday February 13 in the American Legion hall in Chateau to raise funds for improvements at Teton Memorial Hospital. Ray Weist, dance committee chairman for the American Legion Post, says Morris orchestra will donate music. admission is one dollar per person and the public is urged to attend.

Farming Frontiers Slated for Showing at Choteau Imp Co

Pete Ekegren of Choteau Imp Co invites area farmers to Farming Frontiers 71 on Friday February 12. Showings at the implement store are at 10 a.m. and 1 15 p.m. with a free lunch after the morning showing Coffee and cookies will be served all day and attendees can register for free prizes. Fabrick Sees Timely Skyline Lodge Construction

D P Fabrick told about 50 people at the Chateau Chamber of Commerce banquet that deadlines can be met to insure Skyline Lodge Retirement Center at Chateau. With 60 apartments for 80 residents, $890000 is available, 20 percent of occupants may receive rental assistance, and plans must be completed by Feb 26 for construction by April 30.

Signing of Hospital Petition Well Received by Taxpayers

Vander Jagt Rites Held at Fairfield Lutheran Church

Mrs. Bert Vander Jagt died Sunday January 31 after a cancer battle. Funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church Fairfield with Rev. Lowell Stordahl officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Hills Cemetery. She was 66, born December 29 1904 in Piersill Holland and came to the U S in 1921. Survivors: Bert widow two daughters Arlene Woegle and Marilyn Rindal Fairfield two sons Paul Browning and Dan Billings 16 grandchildren.

Teton Farmers To Be Offered New Program

Teton County farmers will be offered participation in the Rural Environmental Assistance Program REAP announced by Secretary of Agriculture Clifford M. Hardin. The program preserves ACP cost-sharing for anti pollution measures and ongoing conservation practices like dams ponds grass cover waterways buffer strips and tree plantings. Applications remain via the county ASC office and are approved by the farmer elected ASC committee before work starts.

Funeral Rites Held for Dennis Massey in Great Falls

Dennis Dean Massey 22 died Saturday in a Great Falls hospital after about a month there. Rosary and Mass were held at St. Josephs Church Chateau with Rev. Gannon and Rev. Gorman officiating. Interment in Chateau Cemetery. Survivors include widow Margaret Maloney, parents Milan and Mrs. Dittus, brothers William Greg and John, and sister Deanna Dittus.

Snowmobile Derby Planned by Chateau Jaycees

The Chateau Jaycees schedule the third annual Snowmobile Derby for Sunday February 14 weather permitting. Five classes from 300 to 800 cc with time trials at 11 am and races at 1 pm. Events include powder puff derby kid's race over 50 and closed course. trophies total 600 with 15 10 cash prizes in A Mains. Entry 10 oval and closed, 5 powder puff and kids free. Admission 1 with children free. Concession stand planned. Dance canceled due to hospital benefit conflict.
