Easter Cantata Being Planned in Chateau Area

A community Easter Cantata is planned for Palm Sunday April 4 in the Chateau High School auditorium under the direction of Lloyd Reynolds. Rehearsals start February 4 Thursdays at 7 15 p m in the Methodist Church. All Chateau and surrounding area residents with singing talent are invited to participate.

Police Report Shows Citations Down in 1970

Police Chief Leon Gollehon reported 167 citations issued in 1970, about 50 fewer than 1969. The department logged 28 accidents, 43 ambulance runs, and noted speeding led violations with 37 citations. Other top offenses included careless driving, failure to stop at a sign, driving without a license, and beer possession.

The third annual American Simmental Association gathering occurred in Denver January 14 to 16 with Jesse Malone Sr. of Chateau presiding. European delegates and U S and Canadian attendees heard talks on performance testing quarantine stations and research as cross bred cattle fetched top prices at the first international sale. Malone completed his term as president and moved to the board of trustees.

Bosses Night honors four locals at Chateau Jaycee event

Chateau Jaycee Bosses Night feted Dr. Bill Patton Mayor James Dellno Stan Rathman and Jerry Herman. Patton received the Distinguished Service Award with top national implications. Herman won Outstanding Young Educator. Rathman earned Boss of the Year along with multiple prior honors.

Enco Station Changes Hands in Chateau

John Conatser of Moore Montana has taken over as lessee of Greenwood's Enco Service Station in Chateau. He began operating the station on January 21 after two years at Eddie's Corners. Conatser, born in Glasgow, is a Moore High School graduate and studied business at Eastern Montana College in Billings. An open house is planned later. Rodney Greenwood, the former operator, urges customers to continue patronizing the Enco Station under the new owner.

Choteau Drops in District Standings After Losses

The Conrad Cowboys surged to first in District 3B by beating Choteau 71 57, ending a three way tie. Choteau then fell to fourth after a 62 54 loss to Shelby, as Cut Bank and Shelby chased second and third.
