Funeral services for Mrs. W Murl Guita Faurote 47 were held Tuesday at the Choteau Methodist Church with burial in Highland Cemetery Great Falls. She died suddenly Jan 27 at home. Survived by husband Marl two daughters Barbara Wellington and Beverly Seaton three grandchildren a sister and a brother with several relatives listed as attending from Bonners Ferry Whitefish Billings Havre and Michigan.
Ed Schiller released the honor roll with first figures the six week averages and second figures the semester averages. Seniors named include Virginia Baker Hope Hensley Susan Inbody Vicki Cook Jan Voorhees Patsy Hoyt Karen Murphy Diane Robbins Diane McClue Dianne Gronberg Ruth Delger Lenore Jessop. Juniors and sophomores follow with multiple names and marks noting dashes where not earned.
Mr and Mrs Chuck Blixrud and their daughters returned Saturday from Modesto California after six weeks with her parents Mr and Mrs Steve Durfee Durfee recently had major surgery and is recuperating at home and is progressing well.
Charlotte Moore of Billings, state officer of the American Cancer Society, presented Fairfield Teton county chair Mrs. Leonard Olson with a certificate for meeting and exceeding the 1966 Teton county goal. Olson thanked volunteers and donors as Montana cancer deaths reached 933 in 1965, with eight in Teton county.
The Choteau Department of classroom teachers plans a state newsletter to improve communications. They will raise funds by serving pie and coffee at the former Chateau Locker on Saturday February 4 at 2 p.m. A Valentine theme and a white elephant sale will accompany the event.
Lorraine Maynard Teton county treasurer reports about 3,500 motor vehicle license plates sold to date, about 400 more than last year at the same point. Cars and trucks dominate, with additional licenses for motorcycles and trailers. Licenses must be on by February 15 or face a fine. a expected last minute rush is anticipated.
The Choteau Bulldogs aim to snap a four game conference skid with back to back games this weekend. They visit Valier on Friday and travel to Browning on Saturday after beating Indian foes earlier this season.
Harry Davidson of Great Falls spoke at the chamber banquet about reforming state courts. He urged better compensation, tenure security, and retirement provisions to attract top lawyers, plus a new selection method and compulsory retirement at age 70. Mrs. C W Boussard announced the 1967 Heart Fund drive kickoff as the 10th year Teton county participates in the Montana Heart Association. Dr. Mike Kelly criticizes the Montana Fish and Game budget request of 7,041,479 against expected license and federal income totaling 7,517,081, saying no license increase is justified and expenses could be trimmed. He questions Dunkle's figures and demands travel and administration cost justifications. Weintz resignation noted as a controversial yet representative figure for sportsmen statewide.
Montana extends the wheat and feed grain signup period through March 17, 1967, announced by Mrs. J. Viola Herak chair of the state ASC committee. The change adds time for farmers to discuss programs with county ASC staff and enroll, with final cropland signup unchanged due to funds limits. Enrollment began Jan 30 and offices have forms and information for 1967 programs.
The annual Power Volunteer Firemen's Ball will be held Saturday February 4 at the Power Legion hall with music by the New Happy Four. Dancing begins at 9 p.m. Admission is one dollar per person.

The Montana Cowboys Association will hold its annual convention in Great Falls on Saturday February 11. Registration starts at 9 am at the Cowboy's Museum across from the fairgrounds with a banquet at 6 30 pm. All members are invited.
A livestock meeting at Chateau High School auditorium 7 30 Tuesday Feb 7 features Robert F Bucher extension economist Bozeman as speaker. He will discuss analysis of business enterprises outlook for ranch size capital needs cost reduction and income opportunities and futures for live beef and feeder cattle. All area livestock producers are invited.
Highway Patrolman Ray Farrell reported a one car wreck involving Billie Irene Rumney near Choteau on the Belleview road. Her 1958 Chevrolet rolled over after skidding from the right shoulder, with minor cuts and bruises but no serious injuries.
Bob Nauck FFA Advisor led Tom Stott Clarence Pearson Jim Hodgskiss Jim Peters and David Lindseeth at Bozeman for the Winter Fair. The group earned a bronze award in meat judging and placed among exhibitors during Friday and Saturday events.
Civil Defense Director LaVerne Marr announced a radiological monitoring course starting Tuesday Feb 7 at the Choteau High School gym. Instructor John Robison will lead six weekly sessions at 7 p.m with Sheriff’s Posse members and three area pilots, using an aircraft equipped for radiological readings and air ground radio links to the emergency center in the courthouse.
The Chateau High School Music Department will present a Pops concert on Sunday February 5 at 730 PM. Groups include Modern Choir Barbershop Ensemble Concert Choir a sixth grade chorus and the high school band. Admission 1 for adults free for students. Proceeds fund Spring Festival expenses.
Choteau board approves extending the Industrial District to the city south line along the railroad to permit above ground storage of flammable liquids. The change follows Phillips Petroleum Co request to relocate tanks from the Phillips 66 station to near the bulk plant south of A & E Lanes operated by Glen Stoudt.
