Wolfe Pack Winnie Wolfe Becomes Mother of Nine in Choteau
Winnie Wolfe, a bulldog owned by Otto and Billie Wolfe of Choteau, gave birth to nine puppies last Saturday, with five boys and four girls. Three puppies died, leaving four boys and two girls. Winnie lives mostly solo as a bachelor dog.

Woman stranded in storm survives 14 hours near Ray
Betty Kelsh of Collins enroute to Meriden, Conn., spent 14 hours stuck in her car on highway 2 west of Ray during a north Dakota snowstorm. She kept warm with clothing and blankets, wrote a memo of her actions, and prayed as forecasts suggested winds would ease. Her vehicle ran low on gas before the motor stopped at 10:30 pm, after which she sheltered under blankets.

Bynum Garage Destroyed by Friday Night Fire
A large wooden garage in Bynum burned Friday night starting around 7 p.m. Link Humble spotted the blaze as Chateau firemen arrived to find the building collapsing. The structure, valued at 8 000 to 10 000 dollars, was insured only lightly and most property inside was lost. The fire likely started in the upstairs area from faulty flues. Inside was a school heating stoker from the Bynum school, now lost, complicating school operations in cold weather. Only a body shop remains for local garage service.
