Wessel Spoelder 79 a Holland native and longtime T. L. Gap resident in Teton county died last Friday at Cho teau hospital after about ten days ill Born June 13 1858 he came to Montana at age 20 and homesteaded in the Gap district Survived by two sons three daughters a sister and four grandchildren Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist Church with Rev R F Vick officiating Interment in Chateau cemetery beside his wife

Resettlement Project at Fairfield Nears Completion
Albert L. Johnson reports the Farm Security administration resettlement on the Fairfield bench is 75 to 80 percent done, with 129 units and 34 remodeled houses. The plan includes 19 new six room houses, 30 six room houses with porches, 8 four room houses, and 4 varied units, all with barns and poultry houses and potential garages. Root cellars may be added later to store potatoes and other produce.

Car Collides With Horse En Route to Christmas Visit
E A Erickson manager of the Monarch lumber yard sustained minor bruises when his Ford coupe struck a horse about 50 feet away at about 50 mph. The horse died minutes later. Erickson was near his sister’s home about eight miles from Conrad when the accident occurred.

In Choteau and nearby, aging residents remember the 1880s hard winters and early Montana life as Chinook winds blow. Charley McDonald, 73, recalls wintering on O. G. Cooper’s land, buying sheep, and building a 6000 acre ranch on the Teton. He later helped found the Stockmen's Bank and served in the state legislature before a long career with Citizens State Bank.

Fire Destroys One Room House in Town
A fire last Thursday forenoon destroyed a one room house and adjoining tent owned by Charles LaRance and family on the south side of town. The Red Cross county and local citizens promptly aided, providing an alternative cottage and surplus commodities clothing and bedding. Firefighters did not respond as the structure was already ablaze beyond saving.

Out for Holidays Nels Stengrimson Tells of Improvements
Sawmill operator Nels Stengrimson of Waldron creek near the Teton river returns to Choteau for the holidays. He employs three men this winter and plans to cut about 100000 feet of timber. The mill moved half a mile downslope to allow a pond and water channel for sawdust. Workers include Martin Clinker Bob Larson and Martin Brouvold. About 10 inches of snow lay at the mill when they left last Wednesday.
