New Year brings license and tax collection rush at the treasurer’s office. In three days 238 car licenses 126 truck licenses and 482 drivers licenses were issued as two clerks processed licenses and plates. The county treasurer and deputy handled licens ing, with additional city licenses for beer and whiskey as officials project further issuances and improvements to businesses like the Arcade and Parkway.

Contract Awarded For Gibson Reservoir Timber Clearing
The Fairfield Times reports the Bureau of Reclamation has definitively awarded the contract to Carl Teubert for clearing additional timber at Gibson reservoir. He has signed the papers and established a site camp, with his brother Ed to join the work. The timber removal is needed due to the spillway intake raise that will flood more timbered land as water levels rise.

Funeral Services Held Monday for Mrs Walkington
Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church in this city for Mrs. Jessie E Walking ton of Bole who died Wednesday last week at St. Marys hospital in Conrad. Rev. R. F. Vick officiated. The body was shipped to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for interment. She was 48 years old at death. Survived by husband Joe Walkington, one brother, two half brothers, two sisters, and one half sister. Burial plans not listed.

Commissioners Seek Vote on Special Bond Issue
The Teton county board of commissioners in regular session approved a resolution to place a primary election vote next July on adding five mills to the road fund levy bringing total to 10 mills. The move follows the road fund being about 70 000 in the red and the five mill cap without a vote. Representatives from the Fairfield Commercial club asked for road improvements on new settlement territory southwest of Fairfield via reclamation service. Also named were H L Stafford as justice of the peace in Chateau township to replace B G Trescott and approval of bonds for county printing poor farm management and county physician contracts. The board will meet today as county public welfare board.

George Blackie Cox dies at 51 in accident after barbers career
George Blackie Cox 51 died Wednesday at Chateau hospital from injuries after an automobile crash on September 13. A well known barber, he worked in Choteau Augusta Valier Conrad Cut Bank Pendroy and Fairfield and served as secretary of the Choteau Rod and Gun club. He was twice married and had several children. funeral arrangements are pending at Roberts Funeral Home.

Owing to illness, the regular city council meeting was held last night. John Hentges was named to succeed W W Smith, deceased, as councilman from the second ward. Permits were approved for Chas Cohoe to move a frame house into Chateau and for W E Rice Co to build a wash house and grease rack at the Rice Auto court. Bids will be sought for 2200 feet more of water pipe to replace mains. City claims were audited and warrants ordered. A NYA project in the city was deferred.

Mrs. Hannah Louise Lindseth 69 wife of Steve Lindseth of Farmington died after months of paralysis and complications at Chateau hospital. Born February 25 1868 in Hellgelund Norway she immigrated to the United States about 1900 and settled in Farmington. Survivors include her husband three sons two daughters and nine grandchildren. Funeral at the Norwegian Lutheran Church Farmington with Rev. B M Alstad conducting and interment in Farmington cemetery.

Forms 1040 and 1040 A for individuals and 1129 for corporations will be issued. 1065 partnership blanks will follow after receipt. Returns forms 1099 and 1096 will also be released. W E Pinnell and Morris Talifson of Pinnell Fur Co report steady pelts intake since reopening a month ago. Coyotes fetch 5 to 8 dollars, badgers similar, mink 2 to 6, top rats 65 cents, weasel 50 to 60 cents, and skunk 0.75 to 1 dollar. Notable pelts include top badger at $8 and two best coyotes by Al Peterson. Beaver expected in March or April. martin and otter not in season.
