Postmaster Gibson Monkman announces that effective January 1 all postcards mailed locally or out of town will require a 2 cent stamp. Drop letters also rise to 2 cents. Special mail services including delivery, registered, COD, insured and return receipts will see substantial rate increases with no fixed table. A surcharge of 10 percent applies to bulk purchases of 50 postcards or more. fewer than 50 incur no surcharge. Registered mail will accept values below $5, previously prohibited.

Mythical Elk and Missing Fish Open Season in Teton County
State Game Department enacts a 45 day open season from Deep Creek to the Teton river to exterminate an imagined 50 head elk herd. A large gathering at Chateau ignored a county meeting. 300 licenses drawn, 10 hunters started, but no elk found. Snow covered tracks suggested two old bulls evaded hunters.

A new four direction traffic signal with a three second amber phase was placed at the Main and First Street intersection replacing the old unit. The signal keeps 20 seconds north south and 15 seconds east west with the amber caution interval, costing $170 from L S Darley Co Chicago. The old signal may be reused elsewhere in the city. General Mills Plans New Elevator at Chateau

Twenty four Montana counties share the Milwaukee Road annual property tax bill of 1,211,336.94 with Teton county receiving 16,776.86 and Fergus county 125,626.24 while Winnett pays 6,268.70.
