North Teton residents may get free chest X rays with a mobile unit announced by Iona Zgoda Chateau chair man. The unit will visit Choteau and nearby towns January 5 to 10 with area captains arranging house to house canvassing and individual appointments.

The Moose Lodge will suspend Wednesday night old-time dances and Kids Night through the holiday season and resume on Thursdays starting January 8. Youth use runs 7:30 to 9 p.m. with old-time dancing from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on the same Thursdays.

Fire Department Responds to Two Week Fires in Choteau
The Choteau Fire Dept. battled two small fires last week. On Thursday a blaze in a cow barn owned by Don Lear near Choteau charred the barn and burned baled hay but plumbing fixtures were saved. On Tuesday a bonfire near the high school spread to brush in high wind and was extinguished by firefighters.

Mary Belle Bair 83 a longtime Teton settler died after a two week illness and was buried in Chateau cemetery. She helped found Fidelity chapter No 18 O E S and served in multiple offices, while her husband J G Bair held key lodges roles. Out of town relatives attended from Wenatchee Washington and Seattle.

Ferd Weyer Buried At Choteau Cemetery
Ferd Weyer, about 69, longtime homesteader at Bole, died of a heart attack in Fairfield last Wednesday. He collapsed after dinner and died before aid arrived. Known as The Mayor of Bole, he settled there in 1914 and was the town’s only resident. Surviving relatives include his brother Pete Weyer of Idaho, a sister in Chicago, and a sister-in-law Mrs W L Reynolds of Fairfield.

Trap Shoot Slated At Choteau Sunday

William Bill Tresler of Chateau won a 1947 Chevrolet car last week in a Woodmen of America giveaway at Conrad. He reportedly sold the car back to the Conrad organization for $1,000.
