The Chateau city council, at the November December sessions, granted 10 building permits and approved purchasing two new street lights parking and stop signs. They also approved city licensing of punch boards for retailers starting January 1 to boost revenue. Ben Chalmers was named airport commission chairman. Permits issued include Ray Davidson home on Hazletts addition lots 10-11 block 16 Tesch Implement front metal sign four cabins for Dave Buchanan originals lot 1-5 block5 and O G Meadows garage addition lots 16-18 block13 Sherburne Joe Briscoe residence addition lots 4-5 Looney tract.

Dutton Doctor Aids Polio Discovery From Chicago Tests

Dr. Frank M. Schabel Jr, formerly of Dutton, joins three other investigators in a Chicago epidemic study. Their hundreds of tests on ill and healthy children yield important new evidence that polio virus from throat regions is a common source of infection.

Edna Otness Wed In Alaskan Village Outpost

Edna Otness of Chateau marries William Peterson of Seattle in Igloo Alaska becoming the first white couple wed in the remote Lutheran Mission chapel. Peterson works for the government at Fairbanks and the couple plan to join him after teaching and school duties.

Women’s Club Presents Christmas Gifts to Welfare Office

The Choteau Women’s Club distributed many gifts to the county welfare supervisor Marion Warneke at a Christmas party. Two delegates will help with distribution next Monday. Mrs. Averill and Mrs. Kropp chaired, with Mrs. Davidson overseeing refreshments. The program included a business session, Christmas games with prizes, carols, a Jingle Bells dance, a lunch, and festive decorations. over 40 members attended.

ACA Heads Delegates Elected for County Area

Roy F. Morgan announced the results of Teton county meetings to elect Agricultural Conservation Association committeemen for 1948. The report lists community chairmen and members for Beck to Fairfield, with 13 delegates elected for the county convention in Chateau. Roy F. Morgan was re elected chairman, Jake Luinstra vice chairman, and M. B. Bolland elected regular member.

Sportsmen Adopt Six Resolutions At Great Falls Meet

North Central Montana Sportsmen's association approved six resolutions at a Great Falls meeting in the Hotel Rainbow. Resolutions seek changes to game bird laws to allow sunrise to sunset shooting on migratory birds pheasants and other upland birds. Choteau High Band Delivers Pep at Hamilton Game

The Choteau high school band impressed fans at the Hamilton Choteau basketball game on Monday night. A 25‑member select group plus specialty numbers highlighted the season’s best appearance. Clifford Lucene Galbraith led acts with assist by Jean Zier and Jeanette Huffman, a clown routine during halftime. Sandra Sue Hanusa played accordion for the Hamilton segment. Joan Schneider and Miss Galbraith performed a twirling exhibition. The program was arranged by Wilbert Maynard.

Hospital Meeting Set

The annual Te ton Memorial Hospital association meeting is scheduled for Monday night January 19 1948 at 8 o clock in the court room of the courthouse. Members are urged to attend and unpaid pledges should be paid before the gathering, says secretary A Bernard Gradal.

Hamilton Amplifies Lead Before Choteau Rally

The third stanza featured an 11 point Broncs advantage as Hamilton produced an aggressive push. A third quarter burst by Hamilton against Chateau reserves narrowed the gap to 25-20 and 29-24 before Choteau’s first unit returned. Hamilton kept scoring after the return, but the margin narrowed while the Chateau lineup regrouped.

Teton County Chosen For Red Cross Nurse Class

Teton county is selected to promote Red Cross home nursing with a course titled Care of the Sick. Instructors include Mrs. Riley Hensley of Fairfield and Mrs. Pat Granger of Chateau. The first class starts Jan. 19, limited to 10 students, with 12 hours of instruction and no charge. County leader is Mrs. Phil Doughty, assisted by local officials. Miss Irene Yerk of the American Red Cross also visited.

Cheteau Independents Open Home Schedule Tonight

The Cheteau Independents host Great Falls East Army Air base at Cheteau High School gym at 8 p.m. with a squad including Cecil Cole Bob Maynard Lowell Scott Bob Dellno Lee Lehnertz Dick Nordhagen Bob Olson Don Passmore and three oil crew members. Howard Anderson is manager.

Roxy Christmas Show Free For Kids

A free Christmas Eve show for children is set at the Roxy Theatre with the Chateau American Legion post. The program includes Bud Abbott and Lou Costello in In Hollywood a cartoon and a newsreel, plus a Santa appearance and candy for attendees. Adults may enter after kids if seating remains.

Assembly of God pastors move as Chateau church closes

Due to inadequate living quarters the Assembly of God church at Chateau will close temporarily. Pastor Virginia Parks will likely transfer to Belt after visiting Minneapolis. Pastor Gina Kittelson plans to return to Minneapolis. Rev Ben Gottschalk and wife will teach Sunday school at Chateau at 2 30 pm in a yet unnamed location. Bonnie Sala, now Mrs John Gottschalk, attends a Seattle Bible school before missionary service in the Pacific.

Christmas Carol Singing Planned For This Sunday

Carols will be sung citywide this Sunday by choirs from First Methodist and Trinity Lutheran churches. Meet at Trinity Lutheran at 8:30 p m for transportation. director is Mrs Arnold Hanusa. Special stops possible for sick or shut ins upon request to Rev Engdahl Rev Grandal or Mrs Hanusa. After singing, lunch will be served in Lutheran parlors by the Lutheran Ladies and W S C S. Christmas organ music will be amplified by loudspeaker from Trinity Lutheran’s Hammond organ each night 530 to 830 starting next Monday.

Teton Cattle Owners Seek Bangs Disease Tests

Cho teau Fairfield area ranchers are urged to register with the county extension office in Choteau to have cattle tested for Bangs disease. County agent Raymond Kelly says list counts of cows, heifers, and calves. tests by Dr. B O Fisher of Great Falls are planned for early January, with route planning needed now.
