Planning Group Weighs Agricultural Problems in Jackson County
A Saturday meeting of the Teton County agricultural planning committee drew 11 ranchers and officials, electing Chas F Proff as temporary chairman. The group formed five sub committees to study livestock crops irrigation farm and home land use with plans to meet January 8 and present a plan at 1 30 p m. Assistant experts from Montana State College and extension service pledged support and reference materials.

Turkeys Net 19 Cents As Cleanup Shipment Planned
Final returns from the November Thanksgiving shipment of 3,350 pounds of Turkeys by the Teton County Shipping association show prices from 24 to 161 2 cents after deductions for shipping packing and grading. Officials estimate a net about one cent per pound higher than local marketing. The annual cleanup shipment is set for Monday January 11, restricted to turkeys.

Two Fire Alarms Run From Chateau Volunteers
The Chateau volunteer fire department answered two calls last week. A Hugo Hirshberg chimney fire was reported on Thursday night and an overheated kerosene heater caused a fire on Main Avenue near the Glenloyd hotel Monday night. Renovation work by H. L. Stafford left fresh paint damaged but residents quickly extinguished flames. no water was needed and the Hirshberg home escaped damage.

State Land Sale Draws Large Crowd at Court House
The Friday land sale attracted many buyers with keen interest in the parcels. Although many tracts sold, officials did not announce acreage or receipts. Helena I. M. Brandford reported sales across 10 counties totaling 22 704 acres with receipts of 207 618 dollars.

Christmas Observance On Lions Program Tuesday
Christmas observance and business dominated the Beaverhead Lions meeting Tuesday evening. D. D. McDonald chaired and presented a chorus of 10 girls from Chateau public school with Mrs. George Tennant at the piano. McDonald read a paper on Christmas symbols. Miss Marty Ellen Robison spoke of her trip to the 4 H club congress in Chicago. The club endorsed road-sign projects with county commissioners and NYA support, authorizing a letter to NYA director J. B. Love. Guests were Conrad Orr and Wm. Leslie.

War Vets May Enroll with CCC Legion Adjutant Informed
H. M. Daley adjutant of the Chateau Legion post says a new CCC veteran enrollment period runs January 1 to 26, 1937. Veterans no longer need relief status or to forfeit part of pay to enroll, but relief cases get preference if quotas are filled. Applicants must report at Fort Missoula by January 20, 1937.
