The Cho teau Bulldogs routed Fairfield 170 to 59 in a game that produced a flood of records. The box score shows Montana High School Association marks for most fouls in a game and most foul shots by a team, with high totals across minutes at the free throw line and free throws made.
George A. Carroll 77 longtime Chateau resident and former Teton County clerk from 1928 to 1944 died Saturday at Fort Harrison veterans hospital. Funeral held Tuesday at Banks Funeral Home with the DC James Smith Post of the American Legion officiating. Burial in Chateau cemetery. Carroll born in Dublin Ireland came to Teton County in 1921. married Birdie Robertson in 1921 then moved to Helena after retirement. He was World War I veteran and recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross. Survivors include his widow and a niece Mrs. Louis Clough Chateau.
Lt. j.g. Lee Edward Nordahl of Cho teau has been reported missing in action over North Vietnam. He is a 1957 Choteau High School graduate and a 1962 graduate of the Butte School of Mines, and is the son of Mr and Mrs Ed Nordahl.
Funeral services for Charles Moniger scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Bank's Funeral Home in Choteau. He died December 21 after a two year illness. Rev. Marlow Engberg to officiate with burial in the Choteau Cemetery soldier plot. Pallbearers named Eldon Cook Carl Olson Leo Keil S J Bachroier Ray Bandow Wayne Randall. Moniger born December 25 1888 in Great Falls first settled at Belt. He married Hazel Léona Backus in 1919 in Walla Walla Washington who died in 1931. He was a World War I Navy veteran. Survivors: three daughters Mrs Howard Koch Chateau Mrs Rudy Atulio Missoula Mrs William Pearce Beaverton Oregon. one sister Mrs Elsie Brandon Walla Walla. two brothers James Great Falls Joseph Walla Walla. and 10 grandchildren.
Chateau High School presents a Christmas program on KRTV from 8 30 to 9 p m Christmas Eve The A Capella Choir Double Octet and Concert Choir perform under Lloyd Reynolds sponsorship by Citizens State Bank and Bob's Ford Sales. The groups recently taped in Great Falls.
The Chateau Chamber of Commerce elected officers for the coming year. Jack Rogers was chosen president with Murl Faurete as vice president, George Higgins as secretary treasurer, and Bill Obernolte as director. Gale Isakson serves as outgoing president and also as director.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd DeRusha of Great Falls welcome Gayle Kathleen born December 16 at Deaconess Hospital. Weighing 7 pounds 11 ounces, she joins sister Lynne and brothers Brian and Jay in the family.
Plans to select the outstanding young educator of Teton County were announced by Jay Dunckel chair of the Chateau Jaycees. The program spots educators aged 21 to 35 from first through 12th grades and invites nominations with educator name and school address. Local winners will be honored at Bosses Night and may advance to state and national competitions.
Choteau residents curb use of ice balls after AP report on plastic drink coolers contaminated with water. Ron Hinman of Chateau Drug says eight Hong Kong products were sold and most returned. State Health labs found contamination levels similar to the Little Rock AP report. stores were asked to stop selling as rupture risks could contaminate drinks.
Postmaster C. G. Monkman announced the Choteau post office will begin operations on Thursday December 30. Move plans include transferring equipment between December 29 and 30, with new box assignments and key locking drawers. The new facility offers bank type counters and a finance lobby, with 715 boxes available.
Duttons Cardinals defeated Augusta Elks 68 59 to win the Augusta Invitational tournament. Freshman scored 25 and Van Heel 23 to pace the champions with Cornell leading Augusta 21 in the final period. Power lost 54 52 to Dutton in the opening game.
Glen Yeager, vice chairman of the Teton County ASC committee, attended a regular State ASC meeting in Bozeman as an unofficial representative of ASC committee members in the Teton area. He and his grain ranch southeast of Chateau have served in this role for three years.
Montana Highway Patrol driver license examiner will be at the courthouse in Chateau on Monday December 27 from 8 am to 5 pm. Applicants are asked to contact the examiner before 11 am or 4 pm.
