Choteau Quintets Rally To Beat Dutton Firemen And Great Falls

Bob Maynard led the Choteau Independents with 25 points as they trounced the Dutton Firemen 70 to 40 on the local court. The Choteau squad then defeated Great Falls Independents 87 to 47, solidifying a 2 1 record in Triangle League play. LaVerne Dahlin scored 18 in the Great Falls win while Dirty Dick Nordhagen and Dahlin were notable for Choteau. Halftime was 24 13 and a 19 point final period widened the gap.

Mrs Edwards Ends Years of Cub Service in Choteau

This month marks the close of eleven and a half years of service by Mrs Ra chel Kawaras to the Choteau cub scouts. She was honored at the cub Christmas program last week and will receive the official scout award at a future date. Couple Plans Weeding Observance Saturday

Farmers Must File Income Tax Returns for 1948

Teton county farmers must file income tax returns for 1948 by January 15, 1949, according to Thomas M. Robinson, Montana internal revenue collector. Most other business and professional people must file a declaration of estimated tax by March 15, 1948 and pay quarterly installments, with the final due January 15, 1949. Farmers may postpone filing the estimated tax until January 15 but must pay the full estimated tax, and a final return by March 15 if not filing early. Farmers may file one final return on Form 1040 and pay in full by January 15, 1949.

Hab Moore Hurt In Icy Fall On Bain Street

Hab Moore of Chateau slipped on an icy street yesterday and broke a collar bone. He was taken to Columbus hospital this morning with limited feeling in one arm. Earlier reports noted other injuries including hip and wrist bruises, while a leg injury worsened later. Mrs. B I Packer also fell on Bain street last week and is recovering after multiple fractures.

City council boosts license fees and authorizes permits

The December meeting raised punch board and oral construction permit fees to new highs, set a $100 yearly fee per operator, and increased building evaluation minimums from 2500 to 7000 dollars. The council also granted permits for two cabins, a new garage and house on several city lots, and approval to move a converted structure.

Land Owners Vote For Teton County Soil District Supervisors

E R Poore of Agawam and Leonard Rice of Bynum seek the three year term on the Teton county soil conservation district board. Election runs 1 to 6 pm next Wednesday Dec 29 with voting at Pendrey and Bynum post offices Chateau courthouse Dutton Farmers Machinery Power Farmers Union stores Fairfield office. The five member board governs soil conservation operations for all of Teton county. Mrs. Augusta Fluhr Dies in Helena After Long Illness

Helena obituary notes the death of Mrs. Augusta Fluhr Sunday December 19. She was the mother of William Fluhr and Mrs. Edith Schneider and formerly of the Chateau creamery. Schneider was at her bedside. Funeral services held yesterday at the Oppare Conrad Mortuary in Helena.

Dahle Couple Mark Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Dahle celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at home with family. The couple, long residents near Power, raised Adel Gerharat and two daughters, Mrs Henry Oscar and Mrs Berndt, after marrying in Winsipag in 1912 and settling on a local farm.

Pioneers Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary

The oldest living pioneers of the Teton area, Mr and Mrs Collins, marked their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Chotest near the Knowlton place. Married Dec. 18, 1888 by Reverend Morgan, they have resided miles west of Bynum since their wedding.
