Mrs Beaupre Celebrates 88th Birthday at Chateau

Mrs Josephine F. Beaupre known as Aunt Josie, longtime Chateau resident since 1893, celebrated her 88th birthday with about 20 prominent ladies of the area in her Beaupre hotel suite. Born in Crown Point Indiana in 1859, she married Henry Beaupre in St Cloud Minnesota and later moved to Helena then Chateau where the Beaupre hotel stands.

Junior Class To Present Play Wednesday

Chateau high school junior class directed by Annabelle Cruikshank will stage The Empty Room a three scene Christmas play by Dorothy Clarke Wilson. The show is set for next Wednesday December 17 at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Drunk Driving Charges Faced By Four Drivers

Patrolman Henry Hels this week arrested four motorists for drunken driving all given stiff penalties or fines. Joe Nedeau of Choteau fined 125 dollars or 62 days in jail. he is serving time in the local crow n bar hotel. Others include John Hoeffner of Augusta who forfeited a 100 dollar bond. Lloyd M. Randall of Augusta fined 102.50 including costs. and Thomas Young Man of Browning serving 50 days in Glacier county jail. Licenses revoked until obligations met.

Reserved seats go on sale for Choteau basketball season

Fans may buy $5 season tickets for guaranteed seats at all Choteau High School home games in the Chateau gym. Each ticket secures one seat from Dec 15 to Feb 16 for games against Hamilton, St. Marys, Simms, Fairfield, Big Sandy, Fort Benton, and Cut Bank, with seating held 15 minutes after tipoff.

Sportsmen's Meeting in North Central Montana December Date

Te ton county sportsmen and other locals are urged to attend the North Central Montana Sportsmen's Association district three meeting in Great Falls on Sunday December 14. An elk management plan aims to cut the herd to 2600 and elk licenses to about 5600, prompting urgent action. A preliminary meeting is set for Saturday December 13 at 2 PM in the Saddle Club rooms. Teton Tuberculosis Drive Sets Bulldogs to Host Hamilton

Chateau faces the Hamilton Broncs next Monday night at home in a heavyweight Class B showdown. Hamilton, last year’s Montana Class B champions, arrive after a nonleague tuneup at Great Falls and bring most of their 1946 roster, led by Paul Tschache and Harold Maus. The game, at 8 pm, will be a costly yet potential bid for state honors with a strong crowd expected to defray expenses.

Surveyor Tells Plans For Teton Road Work

Carroll Maynard county surveyor reports two location parties in Teton county for winter road work. Bud McGiffin leads a party mapping new alignment from Farmington to Agawam, after finishing Choteau to Farmington last winter. Don DeVore and his team start at Kenneth McLean's corner and head toward Fairfield along a seven mile Sunny Slope route, with PRA plans to extend east then northeast avoiding a large coulee toward Albert Bull's place.

International Singers to Appear Here This Sunday

The Oil Field Male Chorus International will perform at the high school auditorium Sunday at 5 p.m. under Prof V P Mauritsen. Admission is free with a free will offering. The 25 member international group rehearses in Sunburst and Shelby weekly, with members driving long distances. The program features works by Grieg Bach Mozart Brahms and more, directed by Mauritsen with Walter Hitchcock as president.

Public School Christmas Program Set at Chateau

The Chateau grade school will present its annual Christmas program Friday December 19 at 7 30 p m in the high school auditorium. It features carols from many countries a reader led story chorus and orchestra with pantomimes. Directed by Wilbert Maynard music director for the Choteau schools.

The county treasurer reports 5432179 dollars of 742137.19 taxes paid by November 30 1947, a 73.20 percent collection. Real estate payments stand at 71.38 percent, personal property at 97.76 percent, with November 1946 delinquents totaling 6106.49 and other delinquents 1120.64. Vehicle and driver licenses for 1948 will not be issued before January 2 1948.

ACA to Elect 1948 Committee At Meeting

Chairman Roy F. Morgan announces the 1948 ACA committee will be elected at a county convention at the Chateau Courthouse on Tuesday December 16 at 2 pm. Firemen Stationed at Choteau Games for Safety

Choteau fire department will have three members attend all basketball games this season to provide emergency supervision. An open north gym exit will aid orderly fan egress if needed. Deputized by deputy state fire marshal Eddie Wyse and led by Chief Gus Thompson, the three will wear badges for easy fan access. Arnold Hanusa to chair New Year dance ticket sales for the fire department.

Women Plan Pre Christmas Party at Public School

The Chateau Women’s Club invites members to a Christmas party at the public school next Tuesday night December 16 at 8 o’clock. Program chairmen are Mrs. Marion Averill and Mrs. Paul Kropp, with Mrs. Beverly Davidson in charge of refreshments. Members should bring food and used clothing for county welfare work, to be collected by Marion Warneke, county welfare supervisor. L. E. Taylor and F. G.
