Elk kill on Lewis and Clark forest may reach 1083
Supervisor W. E. Lockhart reports the 1930 elk harvest on the Lewis and Clark National Forest may top 1,083, a record high. The season produced 880 within and outside the forest, with 26 deer found dead and 96 wounded, leaving an estimated herd of about 4,600 after the hunt.

Dinner Honoring Scout Troop 51 Draws Nearly 100
About 100 people including Boy Scouts of Troop 51 their fathers and mothers and troop committee members attended a social Center hall dinner hosted by the mothers. A color ceremony followed with John Robison leading. Francis Moye received the second class badge and John Billings John Nordhagen earned first class. Merit badges went to Willard Paulus John Robison Vincent Peters Walter Tennant and Wilbur Barker. A court of honor and speeches followed with Scout Executive Russell Conklin stressing parental cooperation. New tender foot Scouts Fred Meadows Ernest Arensmeyer Kenneth Thompson Howard Truchot were invested and a closing ceremony ended the evening.

Children Examined At Dutton Clinic With Prizes Awarded
Thirty preschool children were examined at a Dutton clinic last Friday afternoon. Dr H W Bateman and county nurse Mrs Henrietta Crockett led the physical tests. Prizes went to Hugh Everett Munroe and Donna Johnson for under two, Phyllis Mehl for girl under five, Conrad Frank Schuler for boy under five, Burton David McClellan for boy five, and Maxine Gladys Hafto for girl five. Scoring considered health and nutrition, including milk, fruits, and vegetables. Hester Barce, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Barce near Bole, underwent appendectomy yesterday at the county hospital.
