Major Ll A Foot gave a delightful talk on his experiences in France at the public school yesterday morning. Burton Wells returns after four days out with a hurt arm while Bridghian Monkman comes back from scarlet fever.
A Christmas sermon will be delivered by the pastor next Sunday morning on The Lamb of God and His Mission. Special music, a 10 30 attendance aim, 11 30 Sunday school, and an 8 p m prayer service are planned. Epworth League reorganizing meet at 7 Sunday evening. A Christmas cantatta by Chateau high school students at 8 on Christmas Eve. Official church members meet Monday evening December 22 at the parsonage. Harry, Pastor.
Attendance at the Woman's Club meeting dropped due to holiday pressures. Mrs. J. J. Grgene led a home economics program that drew interest, with Mrs. George Coffey and committee serving at the ten hour.

A blizzard and drifting snow delayed Great Northern and Milwaukee trains, with arrivals late by hours. About 1,200 miners in the district around Great Falls resumed work after more than six weeks on strike. Mines at Tracy Sand Coulee Stockett and nearby sites reported full crews and outputs near 4,000 tons daily citybound. Lehigh King and Red Lodge remained as the few camps not yet back to full force.
Smith arrives in Chateau to interview disabled soldiers as part of a three day conference under the Federal Board of Vocational Education. He is named Vocational Advisor for Montana districts including Cascade and Glacier counties with HQ in Great Falls. The board aims to survey every disabled Montana soldier during December with state and local cooperation urged.
Tracy W. Guthrie, president of Hilman Coal and Coke, testifies that a Wilson proposal would double miners' wages beyond the 14 percent Gar-field deemed justified. He cites a miner earning 2,070 dollars in 187 days, renting a company house for 72 dollars, with a five dollar bill for candy. other records show nine months in 1919 ranging from 4,400 to 2,100 dollars for pick and machine miners.
November records show the state investing $3,254,870 in farm loans with 55 loans totaling $86,200 closed, 76 loans accepted at $129,050, and 86 loans pending $143,950. Cash on hand across school and other funds was $354,162.24, while total November investments reached $341,476.69 in various instruments including United States bonds and school bonds.

Last Friday evening on their home floor the Teton County high school basketball team defeated the Augusta six by 48 to 6 in the opening game of the season. Children are asked to donate books dolls and toys to the Red Cross for distribution to needy youngsters. Bring items to the Red Cross room at the courthouse by Saturday or Monday. Donations are welcomed by the Red Cross committee and the children who will benefit.
Patrick Green eighteen of Buffalo Street was shot by watchman William Gill as he left the Northwest Coal Company yard in Butte Montana. Green died minutes later from a severed aorta. Gill says he fired to frighten the youths and aimed at the ground. Police sought two other boys who fled. Gill was arrested and confessed the shooting to officials.
The domestic science class plans a sale next Saturday the twentieth at the post office. Louise and Kathryn Willis return to school after a several week absence. Freshmen host a dance next Friday the 19th in the auditorium. Catherine Yeager reenters school this week. A basketball game vs Augusta last Friday ended 48 to 6 in our favor. The Latin class practices songs for pronunciation. No debate team activity yet for January. Augusta is our first opponent. The minstrel show last Wednesday was a success with gate receipts exceeding expectations.

Senator Warren G. Harding of Ohio formally announced his bid for the 1920 Republican presidential nomination in a letter to Clare Hughes of Piqua, Ohio. The note confirms his name may be used to select delegates and states he will not campaign personally before the convention.
