Jim Gray was arrested on Saturday for retailing mountain dew while William Wright and Bill Harris were jailed on charges of unlawfully distilling and selling contraband whiskey. The sheriff recovered a double still at Harris’s ranch and seized tools, mash, and finished product as the case moves toward state and federal prosecutions.

Era Van Orsdel Dies in Great Falls Montana
The Rev W W Van Orsdel known as Brother Van died at Deaconess hospital Great Falls after paralysis since October 8. He lay in state at Forestvale Cemetery Helena with burial yesterday. Survived by only Brother Fletcher. He served Montana clergy through pioneer days and inspired many across the west.

Halver Baley Returns Home From California Hospital
Halver Baley arrived home on furlough from the Bannerman hospital in Presidio California where he had been treated since returning from France last year. He was wounded at Chateau Thierry when a gas attack delayed aid and operations followed in which he lost the use of his ankle. On July 23 Company D 104th Infantry began a drive with five officers and 200 men. by night only 16 remained. Frank Brown a fellow soldier and former local elevator worker was killed that day. Baley departed for Dupuyer to visit his parents before resuming hospital care early next year.

Cantata by Children and Grown-Ups Charm Town Audience
The community presented a Christmas cantata titled A Visit to Grandpa at the high school under Miss Armna bel Fletcher. Nearly all graded school children plus two high school students participated. Dorothy Longmuir and Ralph Rains played grandmother and grandfather. Santa delivered candy, the Christmas tree drew crowds, and three churches plus the Pridham orchestra coordinated a cooperative town event.
