Free Movie Santa Visit At Roxy Theatre Saturday

A Saturday event in Chateau features a free 2 p.m. screening of the movie Flipper at the Roxy Theatre. Santa will greet children after the film and distribute treats funded by Citizens State Bank, with support from the Chamber of Commerce.

Kitty Saylor Named 1978 Teton County Junior Miss

Kitty Saylor was named 1978 Teton County Junior Miss at Choteau High School auditorium. The Power Young Women's Club sponsored the event with five other contestants. Saylor will represent Teton County at the Montana Junior Miss Pageant in Kalispell in January and won a $300 scholarship for her piano solo Valse Brillante by Chopin.

Choteau High Christmas Concert Slated

The Choteau High School Music Department presents its annual Christmas concert Sunday at 7 30 p m in the high school auditorium. Vocal groups perform. the band plays selections from the Nutcracker Suite and other seasonal pieces.

Mrs. H. Bloom Dies in Phoenix After Long Life

Memorial services for Mrs. Sidney Newcomb Bloom were held in Phoenix on December 2 after her death on November 30. Born April 30, 1891 in Bloomington, Illinois, she lived in Gibson City and Jacksonville, married Hampton Bloom in 1916, moved to Montana then Arizona, and was active in the Easter Star and other organizations. She is survived by a brother, John Newcomb, and spent later years at Orangewood Retirement Center in Phoenix.

Post Office To Be Open This Saturday

The Chateau post office will be open this Saturday December 17 from 8 30 a m to 1 p m as a service to the public to help expedite mail service during the holidays Postmaster Bob Armstrong said the special hours are intended to ease busy season mail handling.

Bitter Cold Snap Hits Teton County

Bitter cold swept Teton County last week with five straight days below zero. The high reached -5 on December 5 and the low dropped to -30 on December 9. Chinook winds ended the spell by Sunday lifting temps to 50 above, an 80 degree swing from the prior lows.

In week two of the Lights of Love drive at Teton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary two hundred ninety six dollars has been received. Farm Program Response Good

About 95 percent of farmers in Teton County have responded to the crop certification call for 1978 programs says Harold Gaarder chairman of the county stabiliz ation and conservation committee. The 1978 program offers target price disaster and loan benefits for wheat barley and corn with participation based on certifying all 1977 crop acreage. Remaining producers are urged to complete information as certification is needed for program consideration.

City Council to Consider Trailer Court Application

City-County Planning Board approved a proposed trailer court north of KOA Rampground to be annexed and built to city codes with underground utilities and a park area on three west lots. Final approval rests with the council in coming months.

Results of the December 5 1978 ASC community committee elections in Teton County were announced by Harold Gaarder. Of 1453 eligible voters 656 ballots were cast. Annual Cantata Performances Are Scheduled

The Christmas Cantata titled Christ Is Born by John Peterson will be performed at two churches on Sunday December 18. Chateau High to Stage Annie Get Your Gun Musical

Chateau High School will present the early 20th century musical Annie Get Your Gun directed by Tom Mollgaard with Lloyd Reynolds conducting the vocal music and the orchestra. The 16-player Chateau High School band will accompany four January performances. The school seeks era-appropriate props and clothing and invites the public to attend. tickets will be sold soon.

Teton County Receives U S Forest Service Share

The Forest Service allocates 25 percent of national forest receipts to states and counties for public schools and roads. Teton County is to get 11 910 dollars for fiscal year 1977 ending September 30, with Montana total receipts of 9 428 000 dollars and checks mailed last Friday.
