Stores To Be Open This Friday Night

The Chateau Chamber of Commerce announces extended shopping hours for the Christmas season. Stores will stay open Friday December 9 and Friday December 16 and every evening December 19 through December 23 to accommodate shoppers. A free Saturday matinee at the Roxy Theatre features Flipper on December 17 at 2 p.m. Santa will greet children after the movie.

Icy Roads Cause Rash of Accidents Friday

A string of seven crashes on December 2 near Chateau and surrounding areas prompted investigation by Cha teau Patrolman Roger Kelly and Great Falls officers. Notable incidents included a 1974 Ford Pinto driven by Tony Maltby Davis injuring the driver, and a roll over involving Betty Palmer in a van from Choteau Activities. One injury reported at the Augusta intersection with U.S. 287 and MT 21.

Funeral set for M. J. Wilkerson after fatal crash

Michael James Wilkerson 25 of Chateau died in a one car crash near Whitehall on November 16. A memorial service will be held December 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chateau with Rev. James Engh presiding. Wilkerson, a MSU student and Alpha Gamma Rho member, was a carpenter and Little League coach. Survivors include his parents, siblings, and step relatives.

Esther L. Peterson Named Depot Agent at Chateau

Esther L. Peterson of Gildford Montana has been named Burlington Northern depot agent at Chateau effective November 28. She replaces Homer McComb who has served as agent there. Mrs. Peterson has 17 years with BN and previously worked as agent at Gildford and Kremlin. Her husband works as BN signal maintainer at Gildford and she is associate editor of The Railroad Evangelist magazine.

Funeral set for Mrs. Edna Henderson in Chateau church

Funeral services for Mrs. George Edna Henderson 77 will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Chateau United Methodist Church with Rev. Dyer Morgan officiating. She died Tuesday Nov 6. She lived in Great Falls, worked in Cascade County offices, taught school, and was active in Olive Chapter Eastern Star and Rainbow advisory work. Survivors include daughters Clarice Hinman and Diana Clarke, grandchildren Dan Scott Mishelle Cynda Steven Sharla Hinman, sisters in Butte and Great Falls.

Junior Miss Pageant To Be Held This Sunday

Six members of the class of 78 will compete in the Teton County Junior Miss finals for the chance to advance to the state contest in Kalispell in January.
