PMA winners announced after a mail conducted county election. About 60 percent of 1050 eligible farmers and ranchers voted, a sharp rise from prior PMA elections. Community slates named chairs and members for each district with ties noted in Beck Community pending selection.

Joe Anderson of Choteau Civilian Defense director is reclassified in the army reserve and ordered to report for active duty. John Woodward, navy reservist and Chateau Electric store proprietor, also has been called to serve in the Navy and is believed to report soon.

Luinstra Re-elected PMA Teton Chairman in County Pick

Jake Luinstra of Choteau was re elected chairman of the Teton County Production and Marketing administration committee for 1951 at the Choteau county convention. Roy F. Morgan of Fairfield was re elected as vice chairman and M. B. Bolland of Dutton as regular member. Clarence Phillips of Dutton and Adam Dahlman of Power were chosen as alternates.

MEA Council Considers Legislative Topics in Greenfield

Teton County MEA council met in Greenfield December 4 with members from Greenfield Fairfield and Chateau. They discussed various legislative issues ahead of January state legislature and scheduled the next council meeting for Chateau High School December 19 with county representative and senator as speakers.

The Choteau Civilian Defense council named Joe Anderson civilian defense director with Lynn Baker as deputy. Robert Zion heads services including communications and public works. W Earl Hollar leads security. Dr A A McAuley heads medical. Robert Holt leads aid and welfare. council members Sturgis O Neill Wedum briefed deputies on duties.

Trinity Lutheran chimes to ring daily this season

The Trinity Memorial chimes will ring from the church tower daily from 5 45 to 6 15 pm starting Sunday Dec 17 through the holiday season in Chateau. Organists Marge Hanusa and Hazel Gravdal will play as the Northwest Hammond studios supplied and installed the console attachment. Reverend A Bernard Gravdal invites residents to listen for worship and remember church members and friends who have passed.

Bank candy giveaway for Choteau children

The Citizens State Bank of Choteau invites all local kids to receive free bags of candy next Thursday afternoon December 21. High School Chorus Presents Christmas Choral Program

The Chateau high school mixed chorus with grades 1 to 8 performs The Song of Christmas at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium under Robert J. Sandsmark. The program features narrators, soloists, pageant silhouettes, and choirs from grades 1–8 with a procession and carol selections.

Evacuated Korean War Corporal Paul Barrett Confirmed

Paul Barrett of Chateau, stationed with the 7th Army Division light tank unit, is believed evacuated from northeastern Korea this week. His parents told Associated Press that Barrett’s 17th Regimental Combat Troops were safely evacuated about 165 miles north of Wonson. Barrett last wrote Nov. 27 from the Yalu shore, noting bitter cold and a mission to avoid provoking Manchurian Reds, after driving his tank about 774 miles in Korea and helping start other tanks in the cold.

Chateau Masonic lodge elected new officers on December 6 with a joint installation for OES and Masonic officers planned for December 20. Permanent Reserve Program Vital Need Warns Navy Officer

Lt Cmdr John Wheeler from Great Falls urged a strong permanent armed forces reserve for war emergencies. He warned of possible war threats, economy disruption, and a future scorched earth conflict if the U S remains complacent. Daley Wounded in Korea Battle Learns of Son's Injury

Fairfield insurance agent Halvor Daley reports his son Bill, in the 7th Marines, wounded in Korea with a shattered right forearm and possible Christmas return. Bill, now in a Japanese hospital awaiting evacuation, details a severe arm injury and extended hospitalization. Warren Daley, Bill's brother, was killed in World War 2.

McCorkle Resigns PTA Presidency in Chateau

Mrs. A. E. McCorkle submitted her resignation as president at a Chateau PTA executive meeting. The committee announced nominations for an unexpired term leader at the next meeting on January 9, with eligible voters limited to paid members. The group discussed a library improvement project for the elementary school.

Christmas Carolers Set To Sing Near Tree Next Tuesday

Choirs from Chateau Methodist and Trinity Lutheran churches will sing next Tuesday from 7 30 to 8 p m near the boy scout Christmas tree, location to be decided. Rev Harold Engdahl leads with Marge Hanusa directing a city tour to sing at shut ins after. Dinner for singers served at the Methodist church before and after.

School Christmas Vacation Dates Set by Districts

Christmas break for both schools begins Friday December 22 at 2 30 pm and ends when classes resume on the morning of January 3.

Police Target Speeding Near Grade School

The Chateau police warn speeding motorists near the grade school to slow down. High school students frequently use streets around the school as a speedway and will face fines for reckless driving. Fines apply to hanging on to moving cars on running boards and other infractions noted by police. Icy streets increase danger and police caution against hooking on to cars with sleds or skates due to fumes and road conditions.

The Chateau Trap Club plans a turkey shoot on the golf course hill this Sunday December 17 starting at 11 am. Twenty pound birds will be awarded in an afternoon drawing at the clubhouse, and trap marksmen are urged to attend.

Woman's Club Meet Set for Next Tuesday

The December meeting of the Chateau Woman's club is scheduled next Tuesday Dec 19 at the ranch home of Mrs Grace Duffey. Members are asked to contact Lorraine Maynard or Alice Brockley if they can go to help Mrs Duffey know how many guests to expect. A box for gifts to Fort Harrison will be at Rexall Drug store and gifts must be in by Saturday noon.
