Wheat Car Load Sent To Aid European Starvation Crisis

More than one million meals planned from seven counties donations totaling 7000 bushels of wheat. The Teton county unit contributed over 2000 bushels and shipped a full wheat car load as part of a Great Falls CRO P dedication ceremony with cash and food to follow.

Teton Tax Collection Reaches 630804.17 by November End

Loretta Anderson, county treasurer, reported that Teton county real estate taxes for 1951 paid by November 30 totalled 630804 17. The figure shows a slight rise from last November and covers all county state and irrigation charges for 1951.

Discharged Sgt Don Passmore Returns Home from Randolph Field

Sgt Don Passmore, discharged from army service at Randolph Field Texas after a three year hitch, returns to Chateau to live on the Passmore ranch. He enlisted November 23 1948 trained at Fort Ord Calif served in the air force from May 1949 to November 1951 and married Olive Newman in May 1949.

Jury finds negligence split in Neil case near Vaughn

A coroner's jury in Great Falls ruled Lt. Daniel O Neil and the other two drivers equally negligent in the Aug 13 head on crash near Vaughn at the junction of highways 89 and 91. Drivers Barnett and Shell died. O Neil had admitted drinking prior to the trip. Neither party faced prosecution.

Santa Claus to visit Choteau with tree matinee

Santa will descend from an airplane over Cheteau about 3 p.m. if weather allows and greet kids at the Roxy theatre during a Saturday matinee. George and coy Ben Ben of Roxy invite youngsters to a tree event with Roddy McDowell film and cartoons. After the free show Santa will visit the theatre and may stop by local stores to greet children. The event is organized by Choteau merchants and business men with stores expected to stay open.

Cubs and Parents To Meet Santa Next Monday

All Cub Scouts and their families are invited to a Santa visit at Seg a Hall next Monday night. Plans were made at a recent meeting hosted by Cubmaster Tom Morton with the Cub Scout committee and den mothers. Each Cub and sibling should bring a gift to exchange, lunch will be provided by parents, and many newer Cubs will receive pins while older Cubs earn badges. Ewart Opposes Higher Taxes During Montana Tour

Congressman Wesley A. D Ewart of Wilsall denounced the new tax bill as unwise and said voters oppose higher taxes. He noted dissatisfaction over tax increases, the Korea action, and corruption in federal offices. He planned to stay in Montana until January to gather voter opinions before Congress reconvenes.

19 Boy Scouts Get Awards At Ceremony

Ninteen Chateau Boy Scouts received badges and merit awards at a court of honor in Lions club hall on Monday night. About 90 parents and scouts attended a pot-luck dinner before the ceremony where Christmas gifts were exchanged. Scout master Bob Armstrong announced the awards with Dick Swartzel earning a bronze palm for five more merit badges than required for Eagle. First class badges went to Jay Dumckel Billy Ray Halvorson and Lloyd Torgerson Tommy Morton earned a second class badge. Twenty merit badges were awarded with Lloyd Torgerson earning five and seven scouts receiving one or two each.
