A nine foot wreath surrounding a white cross is being placed at the courthouse as part of this year’s city Christmas decorations. The Chateau Chamber of Commerce decorating committee planned more lighted trees but wire shortages halted plans. Walter Partlow chairs the committee with John Dunckel and Leo Murphy as members.

Old Time Dance at City Park Pavilion
The public is invited to a four square dance at the city park pavilion next Tuesday night December 11. The Chateau VFW will sponsor the event starting at 8 30 pm until midnight with the Happy Four providing music. Service Held For Steve Buric 57 In Choteau
Steve Buric a 57 year old Fairfield resident died Thursday after a year long illness from cancer. A Monday morning service at St. Josephs parish Choteau with Rev Albert N Kanarich officiating followed by burial in Choteau cemetery. Buric born Zagreb Yugoslavia December 46 1893 came to the United States settling in St Louis then moved to Stockett and Sand Coulee to farm and work in mines with his brother who died in 1918. He later farmed near Power and for ten years worked at the Schwanki ranch northwest of Fairfield. Pallbearers included Tan Austad Louis Apostel Martin Gronberg George Headington Emil Johnson and Faltin Kote er. Mrs John Billings and daughter from Billings were weekend visitors.

Elk hunting remains open in several Montana areas
State game officials note that some elk hunts stay open in areas near Helena and beyond. Area 11 on the Dearborn River allows any elk until Dec 31, with antlered bulls allowed Jan 1 to Feb 29. Olaf Brandt dies after heart attack at home in Dutton
Olaf Sigurd Brandt, 66, of Dutton, died last Wednesday from a heart attack at his home. Funeral held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Rose room of Croxford's mortuary Great Falls with Rev. A Bernard Gravdal. Burial in Highland cemetery. Born Sept 16 1885 Moss Norway he came to the United States in 1909 and moved to Dutton in 1911. Married Pauline Eder in 1934 she died May 13 1946. No children. Niece Aslaug Dyhre of Sarpsborg Norway has cared for him these past two years. Survivors include three nephews and two nieces in Norway. He was a member of the Dutton Lutheran church.
