Hanford Project Rush Orders Rail Help Across Nation
The Milwaukee Road played a key role in wartime mobilization at Hanford Washington, moving X material for a weapon to end all weapons and transporting thousands of carloads of freight between 1943 and 1945. The rail line moved tens of thousands of tons, including guns, PT boats, and military shipments, to support the secret project.
