1st Lt Joe Anderson of Chateau recalls Eisenhower address before D-Day ops. He shares hardships on June 5 1944 flak heavy, two of 17 from his plane missing, Ardennes combat, battlefield promotion to 2nd lieutenant then 1st lieutenant. He later served as Eisenhower honor guard and earned Croix de Guerre and Presidential Citation. He will depart for Germany January 14 with a permanent army commission.

Tuberculin Tests Next Monday At Court House
The Tuberculine test will be offered to anyone desiring it at the Court House on Monday December 17 from 1 to 3 p m in the office of the Public Health Nurse. The test does not hurt and is as simple as wearing a small adhesive tape for two days. Even if two red spots appear after removal it does not prove active tuberculosis. Early detection through x rays may follow if spots appear.

Rebt Gronberg assistant cashier at Citizens State Bank and reserve army air forces captain met Capt S D Nelson at the Great Falls air base open house. The American Legion Auxiliary held its Christmas gathering at the Lutheran church with 44 in attendance December 10. A $5 donation to the Kenny Infantile Paralysis Fund and $7.75 for Christmas treats for Fort Harrison men were collected. A fine program featured papers on American Holidays and Peace, the Legend of the Christmas Tree, songs by a quartet and a unit trio, and a reading about Silent Night. The dining room display mirrored a V shaped table setup with carol folders marking seats. Four new members were admitted, bringing total membership to 60, and a talk on OPA ceiling prices was given. A Junior Membership Certificate was presented to Margaret Armstrong.

Wm. V. Schneider and wife Margaret A. Schneider sold the Choteau Hotel to C. F. Russell and wife Katie Russell of Circle Montana on December 5. The two story property sits on three full lots in block 5 of Choteau with a two story frame structure housing the hotel bar lounge Key cafe Murray barber shop and upstairs living quarters. The history recounts early owners Geo Richards and later Wm Hodgskiss Emma Thompson and Mr Schneider who expanded and reconfigured the building including moving offices and adding living apartments on the second floor.
