Chateau and Lewistown set for Friday meet in old gym as Krahe fields three matches this week. Browning results show 98 and 132 pins, 145 and 155 wins, 185 decision, and a big exhibition. Junior varsity also logged several close contests.

Bus Benefit Movie Slated For Tuesday

The Roxy Theatre in Choteau sponsors a Tuesday benefit cinema to raise funds for the ailing Great Falls East Glacier bus line. Proceeds from showings at 7 10 and 9 p m will support the operator as he works to maintain service after months of uncertain scheduling and delays.

M Wilkerson Disappears While on Trip

M Wilkerson of Choteau is missing after leaving town to visit a friend in Dillon on November 16. He was last seen near Bowmans Corners headed toward Helena. An all-out alert was issued and extensive searches pursued in Boulder, Dillon, Whitehall, and Butte with no results. Statewide notice issued as authorities seek clues to his whereabouts or vehicle.

Night Shopping Hours Set By Chamber

Chateau stores will stay open late on Friday December 9 and Friday December 16 to aid early shoppers. During December 19 to 23, stores remain open until 9 p.m. for last minute shoppers. On December 24, shops close at 4 p.m. to let clerks enjoy Christmas Eve. a Santa visit and matinee are planned for December 17.

Postmaster Bob Armstrong announces the lobby will close at 5 30 P M seven days a week due to vandalism including a recent fire in the mail drop. He urges patrons to use the lobby during hours and to report suspicious activity. clerical staff will be cut 35 percent from Jan 1, likely lengthening wait times and delaying local sorting.

Emma Reed Dies Saturday in Great Falls

Emma Reed died Saturday in a Great Falls hospital after Thanksgiving night. Services were held at St Josephs Church Chateau with rosary and Mass led by Rev John Kerrigan and Dr James Reef. Burial followed at Chateau Cemetery. Survivors include husband Dominic, son John of Missoula, mother and sister in Linz Austria, and granddaughter Heather.

Fairfield Girl Killed In Accidental Shooting

Seven year old Rene Lynne Oakley of Fairfield died Sunday after a neighbor boy discharged a big game rifle at her home. The 13 year old returned the gun to a pickup rack when it discharged through an outside door, injuring Rene and narrowly missing her brother. Sheriff ruled accidental. funeral held November 30 at United Church of Christ Congregational.

Icy Road Crashes Prompt Patrol Warnings

Highway Patrolman Roger Kelly reported multiple crashes during icy conditions. Incidents included a Boeing crane overturn near Jackson's corner, a 1977 Chrysler off a curve near Bynum, a two-vehicle collision on Montana Highway 200 west of Simms, and a 1974 Ford rollover north of Ghoteau. Minor injuries reported. drivers urged to slow and adapt to road limits.

Two Fire Calls Answered By Chateau Brigade

The Chateau Fire Department responded to two calls last week. On Friday night a reported fire proved to be a camp stove used by youths camping out. On Monday at about 9 p m firefighters extinguished a small fire behind the Bella Vista Motel, confined to dry leaves along a fence line and put out with snow.

She graduated from Montana State University in home economics and taught at Fergus High School before joining Hysham.

Teton Pass Ski Run Opens For Season

Teton Pass ski run opened last Saturday with all facilities and slopes in operation. A 30 inch base at the bottom and 12 inches of new snow over the weekend boosted early-season skiing as first timers praised the conditions. The early opening follows a sparse previous year and hopes for continued snowfall to allow a full season.
