Cecil Yeager Services Held Here Sunday

Cecil D. Yeager 72 of Chateau died last Thursday in a Great Falls hospital. Born September 17 1877 in Jerico Missouri he came to Butte in 1886 and worked as bellhop and messenger before homesteading in Teton County. He lived in Chateau worked dairy ranch and cook jobs, married Josie Krofft in 1910, and later moved to Florida then back to Montana. Survived by son William W. Yeager and brothers George and Earl. funeral at Choteau Methodist Church with Rev Engdahl officiating. Interment in Choteau cemetery.

Five Teton County Boys Drafted First for Call to Service

Five local youths have received draft board calls and will depart today for physicals. Named are Dean Rentmeister of Fairfield, Dean Hofto of Dutton, Dale Paddock of Fairfield, and Michael J. Kleinsasser and Samuel J. Kleinsasser of the Miller Colony.

V. F. W. Dance at Pavilion Sponsored Event

The V F W sponsors a dance at the Pavilion on Saturday night September 2 with Foley Guill and his orchestra providing music. A prize ball will be awarded at 11 p.m. Continuous social entertainment is planned.

Harvest Delays Persist Across Montana Due to Weather

Statewide crop and livestock progress through August shows cool damp conditions delaying grain harvest. Winter wheat about 41 percent complete, spring wheat 23 percent, oats and barley around 45 percent, alfalfa under half of second cut, with frost-damaged corn in eastern Montana. Most grain harvested is high moisture, storage uncertain. many farmers swath or bind to avoid moisture delays. Yields described as good overall.

Groom a Montana native and University of Montana graduate, editor of St Ignatius Post, the couple plans a wedding trip to Yellowstone and points in Wyoming Idaho and Montana. They will reside in St Ignatius.

Kropp Rites Held for Henry F Kropp in Great Falls

Henry Fred Kropp 65 of Great Falls died Thursday after a long illness. Born August 29 1885 in Helena he homesteaded near Brady in 1910 and ranching and sheep raising. He moved to Great Falls in 1931 and worked with the Moon agency for 14 years. Survivors include his widow Pauline three daughters a son a sister a brother five grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.

Month Left To Register For Election

The county reports less than 30 days remain to register for the general election on November 7. County Clerk W. Earl Hollar notes low interest and says registration closes at 12 noon on September 23. To vote, 21 by Nov. 7 suffices. Montana residency of one year and 30 days in Teton County prior to the election are required.

Montana Air Tour set for September by pilot groups

The Fourth Annual Montana Air Tour runs September 8 to 10 with West Yellowstone as the destination. Frank Wiley chairs the organizing committee with routing from all over the state and planned stops for meals, park visits, and fishing near Yellowstone. Russell Deist, Larry Casebeer, Harlan Herrin, and Wiley form the dates committee.

R. D. McDermott scout executive for North Central Montana Council visited from Great Falls on Monday to confer with Leo Murphy district chairman. Plans for the district's coming year were outlined. towns in the district include Augusta Fairfield Power Dutton Choteau and Bynum. The first event is a district rally for scout leaders and cult leaders on Sunday September 17 at the Lions Hall in Choteau from 2 30 to 5 30 p m. Judy, who previously served the district, moved to Petaluma California as field scout executive.

The 4 H exhibit day at Chateau August 22 showcased a busy year for active members. Cora Snider Betty Rae Konen and Alice Mae Maxwell won foods clothing and demonstration contests while Stewart Schwartz topped Beef Judging. Age limits affected attendance as of January 1.

Fairfield Vets To Tangle with Colored Team

The Fairfield VFW baseball club hosts the San Francisco Cubs in an exhibition at the local park at 4 p m Saturday Sept 2. The visitor, led by Sugar Cain, features a strong pitching staff including Cain 29 0 Bruton 32 7 Hubert 28 8 and Ward 19 12 with catcher Elif son. The Cubs boast a road record of 289 57 and won 51 games in June and July.

Mary Larson 77 Dies in Great Falls Hospital

Mrs. Mary Larson of Bynum dies Monday night at a Great Falls hospital at age 77. Born March 15, 1873 in Aalesund Norway she came to the United States in 1890. Funeral Friday at 2 pm at Trinity Lutheran church with pallbearers named. burial in Chateau cemetery. Survivors include five sons a daughter a sister and seven grandchildren.
